Help me understand something: If we find nutcases like the Detroit underwear bomber or the would-be cartoonist killer out in the desert in a camp, training to kill us, we bomb the shit out of them. If we capture them AFTER THEY'VE TRIED TO KILL US, like the underwear bomber, we afford them rights, decide to prosecute them in civilian court, let them hire a lawyer, plead the Fifth, etc. Why is that?
