Very true, Did the kid deserve a bullet? No. Was he an innocent little boy? No. Thirteen is plenty old enough in the hood to be in a gang and that's why he was out running the streets at 2 in the morning. That's why he had procession of a gun. Gangs often recruit and use these young kids as their shooters because they are minors and will not be tried as adults. It's a f'n mess any way you slice it. Zero parenting, failed communities, bad cops, poorly trained cops, over stressed cops, pathetic political and civic leaders and it's getting worse by the month. No easy or quick solutions to this.
Sure. but if only they had a black police chief. https://blockclubchicago.org/2020/04/22/david-brown-sworn-in-as-chicagos-new-police-superintendent/
He was transported though time from the 70s and 80s (where being out at 2:30 AM was no big deal), and brought to the present where that automatically means they are all committing violent crimes. Because in truth, these days, that is what they are up to. I do miss the older days.
So far...I have not seen any whining in this thread from anyone and I'm sure no one will lose any sleep tonight or over the next few days. As far as I know...Chicago police has not been defunded and the Mayor seems to be against it. I do know there are planned 80 million dollar budget cut due to the financial burden caused by the Pandemic but I do not know when such is planned or if it was approved. https://www.injusticewatch.org/news/2020/lightfoot-budget-80-million-defunding-police/ If they do defund the police...I expect property taxes to go up higher. It's a pattern Chicago has when they take money away from one source...they'll hike taxes to compensate and funnel the money back in through the back door under a new identity. Not sure about your comment involving "red states"...Chicago has nothing to do with a red state. wrbtrader
Summary: Democrat Mayor, Democrat Governor, and a Democrat President. Let the Democrats do whatever they want. Defund, Reform, or whatever. Give the people what they want.
I remember sneaking out at midnight to meet with my friends in Evanston...just North of Chicago. I would put pillows and a mannequin head in my bed and climb out the window onto the roof. Friends and I would take the train into downtown Chicago... It took about a year before our parents figure out what was going on. Never played with a gun when I was a kid but the old man did have a M20 Bazooka from the Vietnam war...no shells for it. Today, I believe you don't need any paper work to own one if you can find one. wrbtrader
