You implying had the 13 year old killed people...raised his hands and calmly walked towards multiple police officers and armor police vehicles while looking like a typical teenager from a rural town...

They would have just let him continue walking home considering he was too young to drive ?

    :D

P.S. Kyle had walked by 17 police officers, talked directly to some and even gave a short interview to someone (news person) about what he had just done. He did say he was from the state of Illinois while he was carrying an assault weapon in the state of Wisconsin.

  2. It is like COVID... people are stuck inside so when the weather gets nice people just want to get out of their house and eat outside and... shoot people.

  3. That is why this casse is really not a good one for the people to claim it is the same as other police shootings. Kid was out at 2 AM with shots being fired and runs from police and they "see" a gun. Kid turns around with hands raised.

So the question is... how many times as a cop chased a suspect and the suspect turned around and fired at them. Why is the cop so quick to shoot if he is asking the person to stop and turn around? There is no way this kid was not getting shot so it was an automatic death sentence.

Should the instructions be changed to "Freeze... don't move or turn around or you will get shot" Then when the suspect has complied, you offer instructions to get down on your knees, raise your hands, put them behind your back etc..

I have a feeling this cop was going to shoot the kid no matter what. Under what circumstances would he not shoot the kid.. I cannot think of one. Given the quick reaction to the kid being in the light with his empty hands up he still got shot.

So even if we find it was a good shot, the training shows a huge weakness in cops are still being trained to shoot first and then assess later.

The white kid is carrying a powerful rifle in a tense situation and walks by police with his hands up and no one stops him to check if he has a permit, or if he is out of state or if he is legal to carry that weapon.... all things a Black person faces when pulled over by cops (I have been in the car when the cop asked my Black passengers for their ID.... what the fuck for when you stopped me for doing 35 in a 25...and only gave me a warning anyway).

I've been saying something similar since the beginning of the year...

The Pandemic has impacted everybody including the Police. As people get out more and interact more with each other...

People will chose to shoot each other and in some cases...mass shootings involving petty differences. Seriously, the year 2021 should set a record number of mass shootings, police shootings of civilians, police committing crimes while off-duty and many other types of crimes by everyone.

People are Mad or going Mad

Perhaps what you deem racist is personal experience and preservation.

  6. I don't know that he was going to shoot him no matter what, but in this particular situation the probability was near 100% and here's why.
Every cop in this country is being trained via simulation. Perp may or may not have a weapon, perp in simulator turns. Decide rookie. Too slow rookie, bang you're dead. This repeats over and over again hundreds of times in training. Too slow, bang you're dead, bang, you're dead, bang, you're dead. It's ingrained in the thought process at some point. Now let's add in the multiple real world situations where a routine stop turns into violent altercations and cops being shot. This reinforces that thought, too slow, bang you're dead.
Put it all together and the probability of getting shot if you're making the slightest wrong move in a high risk situation is just about guaranteed. Middle of the night, shots already fired, gun is spotted, chase is on, kid whips around quickly and what is the cop thinking in the .8 seconds he has to decide? Too slow rookie, bang you're dead.

I'm not giving the cop an out, just saying under current practices/law, it was justified and he'd likely get cleared. I think rules of engagement need to change or as Ocho says, training or arrest methods improved.

  8. I wonder if the 13 year and his "mentor" have killed any/many people themselves. Oh, I see. Their guns are just protection for when they are out on their nightly 2am stroll.

Lots of people will be shot in Chicago this weekend- I have not looked but I know this is true just because 1) it is Chicago, and 2) it is another weekend.

  9. Yes, it does appear to be a justified, or at least understandable shooting. Yes, training and procedures need a serious overhaul. It won't be easy.

  10. Thirteen year old - not allowed to be in school.

Is allowed to be out on the streets at 2 am.

Quite a world we live in. Surely the Lefty Paradise is upon us in Chicago and other dem plantation villages.
