I'm not sure I'd lie, per se, but stretching the truth a bit wouldn't hurt. It's not like everyone in the world doesn't do it on their resume. If your specialty is programming, you might want to say that you've spent this time writing proprietary trading software for a hedge fund, or some other fund or institution. And since it's proprietary trading software, you're under a strict NDA and cannot disclose any specifics.
and I am going the exact opposite. out from IT into trading. the tech biz will kill you and take your soul.
