Anonymous websurfing - is it needed?

Discussion in 'Networking and Security' started by brownsfan019, Jan 18, 2007.

  1. I was reading a few articles earlier that anonymous web surfing is a good idea when you shop online, do business online, etc. I guess I viewed this type of surfing for those just wanting to avoid some sort of detection.

In light of that, do guys here use anonymous websurfing software? If so, what do you recommend?

Just curious to get some feedback.

    Thanks.

There is a pretty comprehensive effort to provide anonymous internet surfing, whose epicenter seems to be in Europe. Put the three letter word TOR into your search engine and poke around, it's interesting. Tor has an entry in Wikipedia, and the Tor home page is here. Happy studying!

anonymizer.com provides it for $25 per year, i think

TOR is free and effective! You'd be amazed at what networks you can get outside of (work, firewalled, etc) without detection to wherever you need to surf to.

However, I would not ever put any credit card or bank info through a TOR proxy.
