Here's another one for the EP in progress. Again, this is basically just a dress rehearsal for these songs. The levels are off a bit on this one and voice is tad flat. But ya'll get to hear it here 1st. If you like R&R that's new but with that old school feel, .... Just one more benefit of being a loyal ET music fan (lead break at 2:20 is tight imo, Led Zepish) "Backlit Screen" .....Head in the clouds and its a subtle delusion .....Whole generation stares at a backlit screen .....Its like you're givin' away your freedoms and your anonymity .....Whole generation stares at a backlit screen. https://clyp.it/waftz2rx
OK, here's the last song for the EP. "Cheap-shots". This one means a lot to me. I wrote this about a realization that took me far too long to realize. And I wrote it for all those folks out there, and there are many form what I see every day, that have yet to realize it. It seems in life there are people you know that for whatever reason seem to say things to or about you that bring you down. For me it was my sisters. I was always the black sheep. Always whispering and criticizing behind my back. And for years I let what they said really affect my psyche. Then day I woke up and I just realized, F em. They're the losers. They really are (little lives). And what they say matters not. Your life is yours. If you let other people control your feelings about yourself, then shame on you. Like I said, it took me far to long to realize this. Its so true though. So I figured out the hook. "When cheap-shots don't matter..... you know that you've won". Again, like the other three songs I have posted here, this is a rough draft. And if the kid singing was ever flat, he's flat as all get out on this one. (and clyp messes with the levels for some reason. There processors might not like .wav files) That'll be fixed. But for now.... you guys get to hear it hear first. As always, sounds like old rock, but a stronger melody and words for today. Big guitar, big drums.
"The Ghost Of Tom Joad" Men walkin' 'long the railroad tracks Goin' someplace there's no goin' back Highway patrol choppers comin' up over the ridge Hot soup on a campfire under the bridge Shelter line stretchin' 'round the corner Welcome to the new world order Families sleepin' in their cars in the Southwest No home no job no peace no rest The highway is alive tonight But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad He pulls a prayer book out of his sleeping bag Preacher lights up a butt and takes a drag Waitin' for when the last shall be first and the first shall be last In a cardboard box 'neath the underpass Got a one-way ticket to the promised land You got a hole in your belly and gun in your hand Sleeping on a pillow of solid rock Bathin' in the city aqueduct The highway is alive tonight Where it's headed everybody knows I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light Waitin' on the ghost of Tom Joad Now Tom said "Mom, wherever there's a cop beatin' a guy Wherever a hungry newborn baby cries Where there's a fight 'gainst the blood and hatred in the air Look for me Mom I'll be there Wherever there's somebody fightin' for a place to stand Or decent job or a helpin' hand Wherever somebody's strugglin' to be free Look in their eyes Mom you'll see me." Well the highway is alive tonight But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light With the ghost of old Tom Joad
The coolest movie ever made....I 've never been to an audience participation movie like it. There aren't too many movies that played at midnight every weekend for 30 years. Few groups can rival The Doors for their lyrics and image. It's too bad Jim Morrison got consumed by Hollywood and whiskey and died too early.
