  6. Today’s Day Trading – 04/29

I did a nice trade on EC 60 minutes today. Short at the RH at 12925, first target 10 ticks - covered first lot at 12915, second at 12877.

Some major changes for May. I am switching completely to the longer time frame of 60 minutes. Entries and exits are still the same. I will use a initial stop of 10 ticks in the Euro FX and Mini Russell. I am not going to trade the Mini Dow anymore. I will trail my second lot on 60 minute bars. I guess, that’s it.

I am not keeping up the idea of the new method. It just keeps me on the screen to much. I am also not so happy with the results of some back testing.

Here are the results for this month:

    April:
    Euro FX: +0 ticks (+0) 19 trades
    Mini Dow: -40 ticks (-$200) 15 trade
    Mini Russell: +8 ticks (+$80) 12 trades
Mini Russell new method: +48 ticks (+$480) 5 trades

To be consistent with my recordings I add my monthly summary (hypothetical result due to 2 contracts):

    March:
    Euro FX: +38 ticks (+$475) 32 trades
    Mini Dow: -20 ticks (-$100) 4 trades
    Mini Russell: +12 ticks (+$120) 7 trades

    February:
    Euro FX: +103 ticks (+$1362.50) 37 trades
    Mini Dow: -10 ticks (-$50) 13 trades
    Mini Russell: +55 ticks (+$550) 12 trades

    January:
    Euro FX: +76 ticks (+$950) 23 trades
    Mini Dow: -46 ticks (-$230) 9 trades
    Mini Russell: +120 ticks (+$120) 3 trades

andy - how much backtesting do you do before you decide you have enough good 'historical trades' to take to market? 30? 100? more?

i ask because as we know, markets change. what do you see as a good look back period?

do you then paper trade the idea for a while to make sure it will run? again, if so, how long/how many trades?

cheers & congratulations on a neat come back!

  10. Hi,
Why are u living in the Caribeen? For tax purposes or just because u like it.Only two kinds live there .The best of this world and the worst. You trade better because u are in the Caribean and the climate suits your trading style or it doesnt matter you trade as well as any at any other place.I know of many traders who just go to the Caribeen to trade .
