I just watched Brainman on the Science channel about Daniel and The real rainman is coming up at 10 pm Eastern about Kim.... Daniel couldn't do anything profitable in Vegas, although it is possible he wasn't allowed to try everything... The most interesting part was for me the Chinese still teaching using the abacus. Those 12 year old kids were able to immitate the abacus in their heads (their fingers were doing the work in the air) and be able to do incredible multiplications in their heads....
Nice try. But the manual abacus has long since been replaced by the electric abacus. In fact... Apple sells the iAbacus in China... Which is a combination cell phone, music/video player, digital camera and rice bowl.
Eh? It wasn't the point. The point is that they can do the aritmethics in their heads, by immitating the manual abacus and the process. Can you multiply a 4 digit number with another 4 digit number in your head immitating your electronic abacus??? I don't think so...
