AMP & Sierra Chart

Discussion in 'Retail Brokers' started by quintrix, Mar 31, 2021.

  1. Hey, I am in love so don't show me any of your favorite girl friends. :D Seriously though, the last time I was with IB I thought their charting sucked. They introduced their Mosiac addition to try to catch up but I thought it was weak as well. One thing that SC has that I have not seen anywhere else is the choice of "Delta Volume" bars as a chart selection. I think this shows the cleanest look at what is going on in price action. "Delta Volume" is the volume traded at the bid vs the volume traded at the ask. It has to reach your chosen chart setting for the bar to be completed.

  2. We are also going to be releasing soon, the new Rithmic integration.

This is from a recent post on Sierra Chart Support Board by their Development Department.

Sure, it was nice that AMP users got SierraCharts version 3 for free for so long but SC is well worth the $26 per month fee or $20 pm if you use the 6 month up front option.

Indeed. It has nothing to do with the (minimal) cost for SC. If a non-pro "trader" can't cover $75-$100 of overhead for charting, data, etc... well.

My problem, like CALLumbus, is their (SC's) communications about the new offerings. I don't know why I now need to spend several hours deciphering, and more importantly, test a new setup for some period of days at least just to get back to square.

My very first setup was JTrader for execution and Ensign for charting. Unfortunately Ensign does not support many data feeds, but the software is very stable and well maintained... they've been around a long time, and their software fee has been stable too! In that sense, SC is not a virtuoso.

Too bad MedVed doesn't have robust user-created functionality/code. Always liked Medved charts!

I also used JTrader for execution years and loved it - rock sold.

SC guys are nerd autists who do not know how to communicate to anyone other then nerd autists. Amp could have made the transition options more clear for their users.

You can use the AMP/Rithmic connection with MotiveWave. Our Rithmic connection supports the MBO orders.

Firstly, let me say that @j_medved is an ET member and he is THE authority on the feature set of his platform.

AFAIK, MedVed Trader offers both an API (HTTP), and an Alert system which allows users to create custom functionality. For me, again AFAI can tell, neither method is robust enough for my wants/needs. I say that based on being a long time SC user, using SC's ACSIL (C++) dialect and/or it's built-in spreadsheet capabilities to produce user-defined functionality. Much of my custom stuff is NOT able to be refactored using the existing Medved Trader user functionality tools.
