I like SC as a platform but they seem too have a hard time getting along with brokers and data feeds and order routing. Just read stuff on their own site. You can’t talk to them by tel either. Unless they initiate it. I don’t know what is going on with them. The TT problem earlier this year and also the cqg routing problems made me leery of both AMP and SC. I hope they get stuff ironed out.
I agree, I log on to my AMP account and click chat and I get nothing. They used to be so good but now they seem to have abandoned client service.
I use Sierra Charts with AMP with CQG and am having no problems. However the Sierra Charts Platform used to be free but now I have to pay directly to Sierra Charts $26 a month in order to continue to use their Package 3 with AMP. And YES, Sierra Charts is that good. They have thought of everything. I still use TOS for options and used to think TOS was the King, but they cannot touch a candle to the capabilities of Sierra Charts.
I have used Sierra with CQG for a long time, without any major problems. Worked fantastic during all market conditions. But now with all this talk all the time from Sierra, dont use Rithmic, dont use CQG, dont do this, do that, use this datafeed, but pay attention to this... it is getting too complicated for my taste. If I have to read a book to understand how and why to establish a good market data and order connection, then this does not sound like a good solution anymore. I want something uncomplicated, very fast, very reliable, without all the politics and whatever other problems in the background. It was a tough decision for me to move away from Sierra, but I make the switch to Rithmic Rtrader Pro. It is a platform directly from the provider of the datafeed. So I guess there will be no excuses and blaming like what I hear all the time from Sierra and other platform providers. Charting is very simple in Rtrader, but what really matters to me is that it is streamlined and superfast, for example the DOM, you can set the update time to as high as 100x per second, or even "unlimited". You can customize stuff that really matters for very shortterm traders. So far I am very impressed by the platform and datafeed, and I hope that by getting both the datafeed and the platform from the same provider I have hopefully eliminated some interface error potential. Greetings, CALLumbus
I also switched from Sierra. I tried Rithmic Pro and the DOM is really good and fast, however the charting was way to basic for me. I decided to go with Multicharts.
I hear and agree with you @CALLumbus. I have a bit of ASCIL code, so whatever I look at needs to allow user-created functionality/code. I see R/TraderPro provides 2-way communication with some sort of Excel .NET interOp's IN REAL-TIME to address this requirement of mine. Let us know (or feel free to PM me) how the setup works for you. Particularly if you use the .NET operability. Thanks, Good trading to ya!
Well on Weds I said SC was in a delicate situation looks like I used the wrong adjective! Dangerous looks more appropriate, worrying your clients that they may need to change broker and/or data feed may actually mean they change their charting package, as illustrated by the last few posts. I also have a couple of ACSIL studies working in SC so I’m reluctant but if there was a decent alternate I’d be off too.....I notice SC are not in the sponsors list here, so don’t know if they ever look in, I hope they do because if they carry on the way they are they might not have a business left!
