We don't rejoice in suffering, we rejoice in Christ. Big difference. I think you need to read up on the real Christianity, not what others tell you.
Absolutely. Also, God has got this. People who worry and fret haven't yet found a way to trust God completely.
My great grandfather was a professor of philosophy who taught the Skeptics and Nietzsche was one of his better known students. It's my great grandfather's books I have and can't read for the life of me.
Really? We could walk down History and point to the little excesses committed in the name of Christianity. I'm familiar with the usual reply that those who committed various atrocities where not true Christians, conveniently removing deity from humans but I don't buy it.
I don't believe that philosophy holds water. If it did, then all slave owners in the US in the past make all whites culpable today. The Hitler followers in Germany make all Germans today bad. There have always been true Christians and pretenders, even today.
Christianity: accept Jesus as lord and creator of all and you can come to our afterlife which is best afterlife…like really good. Also, you need to give some of your money to our churches because they are the only ones that matter and it helps your chances of coming to the best place ever when you die. Also, the only book that really matters (New Testament) is mainly comprised of letters written to various churches by someone who didn’t even know Jesus. I also really can’t stand how bliss is always exported to “heaven”. I think peace, happiness, even blissfulness can be experience today, right now. whether anyone considers this to a principle of Christianity or not…there are many many people who justify terrible suffering with “it’s alright because heaven awaits me because I loves me some Jesus Amen”. It’s ludicrous to me.
It's not, actually. Christianity has brought me a very good life here on earth. I look forward to heaven, but that is not why I am at peace. I am at peace because I believe that God has got this, even here on earth. We are not waiting to die, we have joy here + heaven to look forward to.
That’s great to hear honestly. You have found your way…I just argue that Christianity isn’t THE ONLY way. Is it one path? Absolutely I believe so.
