American middle class faces impossible savings task

  1. I am with you on this Saxon. Sorry Pabst, but the Iraq has been the biggest clusterf*ck in the last century. I couldn't believe ppl. re-elected that red neck from Texas with a quick trigger finger. It just goes to show, in times of stress and pressure ppl. will vote for the devil they know over the one they don't. Now before you call me a tree hugger I was in total support of the War in Afghanistan.

That freakin' war is going to bankrupt this country. Want to take a guess at the real cost of the war? I say 2 trillion. We are at just under $1 trillion right now, when we were told approx. $200 bil.

Like it or not the US is an imperialist country. How many years after WWII do we still have toops on Germany and Japan? We are never going to completely leave Iraq, never people! The US does alot of good, but it comes at a big price at times.

Bush is best buddies with the House of Saud. Pabst you know that. Where did those Jihad freaks come from? If anything the Iraq war has been a recruiting effort for Jihad freaks showing the Muslim world that we really are imperialists out to oppress them. Bush should have listened to his Daddy. He was smart enough not to go to topple Hessian. Now we have another 10 year Balkans war in the Middle East.

We have enough problems in this country without having to worry about toppling governments and installing US pro puppets. I say we have enough guns and now we need more butter.

Here's something to get you thinking. The real problem is extremism. We are fighting Jihad extremist freaks and our country is being run be a right-wing religious freak.

Back to on topic. On the savings rate, if ppl just read The Millionaire Next Door and Start Late Finish Rich and lived by those principles, they would be fine. Immediate gratification comes at a price.

America, hands, down still has the greatest freedom of any country on the planet. Even with the Patriot Act IMO. Freedom to do some really stupid things which impact society as a whole, whether that be your neighbors taking out loans that can't pay for or ppl. in your community owning assault rifles.

You also have the freedom to start a biz, get great tax write offs, and learn how to be a successful day trader. I am opting for the latter. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Post Edit: Fearless is correct I should have said alot of freedom, the most is incorrect, besides it's extremely hard to quantify absolutes. Especially in light of the Patriot Act, which I am no fan of.

  2. You will need to explain this sweeping statement, or else name your planet as it might be different to mine.

  3. "Like it or not the US is an imperialist country. How many years after WWII do we still have toops on Germany and Japan?"

This is one of the stupidest, idiotic things ive read in a long time and showcases just how far off the conspiracy loony tunes cliff many americans have fallen off of.

Do you actually think we own/control japan and germany somehow??? I cant believe the absurdity of the "imperialist" claims.

Look at how Saxon22 mentions fox news in every post, he sounds like a left wing conspiracy nut, who flips out and assumes anyone who takes an opposing view is a brainwashed fox news drone. Give me a break.

You people need to wake up to the fact that there a lot of people around who arent nearly as short sighted, myopic, and pussified as you are.

Some students of history know what happens when you turn a blind eye and allow crazies around the world to get powerful enough to take you out and who take advantage of your ignorance and complaceny.

You make analogies between the fall of Rome and the USA, which shows your levels of ignorance.

Rome was brutally attacked by multiple aggressors every time it became "weak". Yes, there are evil forces in the world who would take the same opportunity to destroy us, and some people like you, want to stick their heads in the sand and "just leave them alone", while they run off and build nukes to target us.

This idea that we should stop messing with them because we will just piss them off and create more of them is analogous to saying that police officers should just leave criminals alone because they will get mad and their brothers will become criminals too to avenage them, thus creating more criminals. The US is the worlds police force because most the other countries are too spineless to deal with the tough issues. Shit, france rather let the nazi's roll in unchallenged than fight. I wonder why we even saved them sometimes.

This line of thought is exactly what will create the next Nazi germany and you pussified pascifists are just too god damn stupid and spineless to address the issues before they become real problems.

Want to know what is really going to destroy america? Its own guilty self hatred from people like you guys.

No america is not perfect, but STFU already, at least youre not speaking german right now.

  4. There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit t here were 35 murders in the Month of January. That' s just one American city, About as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't Have started this war, state the following:

    A. FDR led us into World War II.
    B. Germany never attacked us ; Japan did.

    From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ..
An average of 112,500 per year.

    C. Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us .
    From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost ...
An average of 18,334 per year.

    D. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
    Vietnam never attackd us .

    E. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
    From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
An average of 5,800 per year.

    F. Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
    Bosnia never attacked us .
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
Times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on
    Multiple occasions.

    G. In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush
Has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
Al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who
Slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

    The Democrats are complaining
About how long the war is taking

But It took less time to take Iraq
than it took Janet Reno To take the Branch Davidian compound.
    That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
In Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find
The Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
Than it took Ted Kenne dy to call the police after his
    Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick

It took less time to take Iraq than it took
To count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In- Chief is doing a HARD JOB and was handed a shit sandwich. Remember the stock bubble bursting prior to his administration?

The Military morale is high! The media does not report when recruiting/retention numbers are high...you will never see it unless you dig!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant
    To realize the facts

Peace democrats said the exact same things to Lincoln during the civil war that they are saying TODAY!. He (Lincoln) had them jailed...no shit, jailed. He was called things such as..."ignorant, backwoods (redneck), war-monger, itchy trigger finger etc. Do a little homework.

We need to be in Iraq and Afghanistan as strategic posts. Same as South Korea. Get over it.... If it is for oil, fucking A. I enjoy paying 3 bucks or less and couldn't give a flying rat-fuck what people in the EU pay!

I have no complex over being the only world super power. I would love to stay the only world super power. I compete to "win", not to console losers. This country excels because it competes.

Everything spewing from the left has the exact same theme: 1) "Talk" instead of action. Didn't help the clinton administration for setting up the USS Cole, 1st WTC bombing on and on and fucking on.
    2) "Concern for world opinion". God, that sounds stupid on so many levels. It's tough being the king of the mountain. The crabs in the bucket want your ass. France.....yeah, there's a good role model of a country with zero pride, harsh regrets, and insane jealousy.
    3) Commerce and business are the traits of a capitalistic society. We are not socialist "yet".
    4) "If you don't think like me, you are wrong"....contantly spewed from the socialist left to discredit any disagreement by means of insulting; intelligence, patriotism, lack of "new age" reasoning etc.
    5) Add phrase here.....

Glad to see this thread get a little lively. :)

  5. Cesko

    Cesko

I suggest you invest some time and effort and acquire some books written by Noam Chomsky and see the light.

I don't think he will waste time reading pseudo-intellectual garbage from people Lenin used to call "useful idiots."

I've read bits of that shit just like I occasionally grab "Socialist review...." for the fun of it and it's useless delusional crap.

  6. Traderdragon- LOL, you are funny man really. Keep drinking the kool aide friend. :p

Think man, do your really believe that the US hasn't assassinated or attempted to assassinate a number of foreign officials that the US believed are threats to our way of life? Then we lend financial support to pro US candidates. Is that not imperialism ? You need to study history. Iran Contra in the 80's. supporting the House of Saud ( whom oppresses their own ppl ), I could go on and on.

How am I weak? I clearly stated I am for the War in Afghanistan. I am a moderate not an extremist like you. I don't agree with all Democratic or Republicans party lines, which you seem to. I focus on objectivity. Why do you think very few countries supported the US in the War in Iraq? Because they didn't believe the BS that the US was trying to sell at the UN. And guess what it was bunk. Or I guess you could bend the truth and say there are chemical weapons there, ones that the Rumsfield gave them in the 80's to fight Iraq. :p

Keep towing the party line. You are doing a great job.

    :D

  8. ElCubano

    ElCubano

Absurd; that someone so smart could have written such a paragraph.

Country doing fine??..... I Think NOT...but i could be off just a tad.

A massive attack is what was done to IRAQ and believe you me I have prayed for every victim of 911 so please spare me. While it was a horrific act it wasnt the massive attack BUSH tries to make it look like....

A multi front WAR?? we asked for it. It didnt come to us we came to IT; And while pabst has a valid point we could have done it much more efficient.

A near decimination of our gulf coast was due to the fact that most of our shit was immobile due to the fact of no one giving a fly**ing f**K. New Orleans was more about what happened after and less about Katrina.

100 years from now Bush could be seen as the smartest president in the last 100 years if we continue the way we are going....think about that statement...peace

P.S please reread Saxon's posts in this thread he has hit every nail square on the head....

p.s.s. Pabst going to Tarpen Bend Happy Hour on Miracle mile today

  9. Kool aide? OMG?!?!?! YOU MUST WATCH BILL O'RIELLY!!! YOU ARE A CRAZY FOX NEWS WATCHER!!??!?

Joking, just making fun of how the left wing america haters react to everything.

Nice dodge on the imperialism. Do we own japan/germany no? Do we protect our interests yes. Well guess what, most countries use the same tactics, so by your definition, the whol fricken world is imperialistic, but you like to focus only on the USA's "deeds".

Again, nothing more than self hatred.

As for Iraq, go look it up, the UN website has a resolution on it that clearly states Iraq was in violation. When you violate a cease-fire agreement, its perfectly legal to go back in and enforce. End of story. All the BS politcal crap only existed because people are too pussified to enforce the law.

Towing the party line? What party line? Im not part of any party so stop putting words in my mouth.
