America in 2050: Another country

  1. I see. So nation building in Iraq was their choice as result of a democratic election by the Iraqi people.

We try to export "democracy" so we can gain favorable trading status.

  2. Now this, ART, really IS fear-mongering!

Yes, the number of minorities is growing. Large numbers of minorities work in low-paying jobs and do the work middle-class Whites abhor. And yes, the minorities hold on to their culture in many ways. BUT, what draws these minorities, as it has since our nation was founded, is the opportunity for a better life that this country offers.

By and large IMHO most immigrants love this country for the opportunity it has given them. Most immigrants I know, and I know many because I live in the only state (Hawaii) where minorities are the majority and the whites are the minority, are more grateful to be Americans than most of my caucasian friends who take their citizenship for granted and forget that unless you're Native American you're descended from immigrants yourself.

Just because an immigrant still speaks his/her native tongue and holds on to their native cultures, does not mean they are going to destroy "American culture." The Italians, Poles, Russians, Greeks etc. did the same thing when they arrived on these shores and continue to do so, but I don't hear anyone sending out the alarm bells because of them. Hmmm, could it possibly be because they're WHITE?

And good grief, American culture is a hodge-podge of immigrant cultures anyway.

I find it ironic that "White" Americans, whose ancestors were immigrants to begin with and came here in search of the American Dream, feel threatened by Hispanic and Asian immigrants looking for the same opportunities.

  3. In the year 2525
    If man is still alive
    If woman can survive
    They may find

    In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do, and say
Is in the pill you took today

    In the year 4545
Ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes
You won't find a thing chew
    Nobody's gonna look at you

    In the year 5555
Your arms are hanging limp at your sides
Your legs got not nothing to do
Some machine is doing that for you

    In the year 6565
Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife
You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too
From the bottom of a long glass tube

    In the year 7510
If God's a-comin' he ought to make it by then
Maybe he'll look around himself and say
Guess it's time for the Judgement day

    In the year 8510
God is gonna shake his mighty head
He'll either say I'm pleased where man has been
Or tear it down and start again

    In the year 9595
I'm kinda wondering if man is gonna be alive
He's taken everything this old earth can give
And he ain't put back nothing

    Now it's been 10,000 years
Man has cried a billion tears
    For what he never knew
    Now man's reign is through
    But through the eternal night
    The twinkling of starlight
    So very far away
    Maybe it's only yesterday

    In the year 2525
    If man is still alive
    If woman can survive
    They may find

    In the year 3535
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lies
Everything you think, do or say
Is in the pill you took today ...
