    I don’t recall AMD ever being respected in tech circles I’ve been around. There was always some press trying to sell it, but technically they were always behind Intel and there was just no way for professional organizations to use their products. So it’s the pros that hated AMD, while some poor kids who tried to save a buck were tinkering with AMDs until they could afford Intel.
    Maybe something will improve with new types of products like AI processing cards, but unless AMD seriously proves itself it will continue to be ignored or even laughed at. While I’m not sure they’ll ever have technical capacity of beating either Intel or NVDA. And I may be unhappy because I use tons of hardware and wish I could use something less expensive, meaning AMD. But I’ve wasted tons of time and money every time I’ve tried using their stuff, which was supposed to be better according to various press article pumping their stuff before it got into the market. Now I just treat all AMD press as fake news.

    basically it feels you lost ton of money not on hardware but on shorting AMD

    their CPUs are ok and were always OK as long as I remember. And I use AMD CPUs since 1995

  3. I don't know why you calling their products are crappy, can you give specific examples? I Always owned AMD CPU, graphics and mother board and never seen any breakage and works just fine, it may not be a top notch in terms of performance but always a economical alternative to Intel products.

    Let's say you bought at around $5 after price breakout.
    AMD peaked at $34. We can never catch the peak.
    Now AMD is around $23. ie price has appreciated > 4 times which is still very attractive.

    after 10 Oct 18, market gave us the opportunity to lighten our position.

    Don't trade based on hope.

    nothing wrong with being second best if it meets your goals. because you can't afford a Rolex doesn't mean you shouldn't buy a watch. a company can be extremely profitable being 2nd best or even 10th best in certain industries if managed properly to meet the expectations of their customers.

  7. i can afford rolex (or intel per se), i just dont need that high performance. If i were true game enhusiast (e-sport runner) or someone that needs full bells and whistles that comes with Intel, yeah sure but just dont need it. Mostly I play 5-6 yrs old game and do a browsing.

    Its[AMD] still up over 100%/+ this year. See if they buy @ 200 day moving average?? Most likely will support it= they are now.They are buying it since the big earnings miss //miss. But heavy debt for tech co=217%%. But since its[AMD]still rated #1 by IBD, figure some more up moves by DEC 31. AMD is beating NVDA, fundamentals +NVDA cant even close above 200dma.:cool::cool:

  9. amd has released first time a server GPU v340 recently and expect to compete head to head with Nvidia in data center to crunch AI tasks. If this segment goes successful, expect another revenue stream.

    While IBD is press;
    theyre honest press + rated by earnings+ plenty of stuff, AMD>>better than NVDA. NOT long or short either. And AMD is above 200dma . But NVDA cant even clear it,[200dma] Used t be in IBD 50; dont know if thats still true;. NVDA isnt even positive %YTD. NVDA is dong better today , but much worse YTD%
