You literally have no clue on this topic do you ? How many times the last 30 years has someone said AMZN is blowing through money, has low to no earnings, didn't like their purchases ... . Yet they could sell all their businesses now or convert to a cash cow operation and make a TON of money. Leadership is important in this economy if you get stale and take no risks you will lose your market advantage. They have the resources to weather some mistakes. For example, Microsoft bought LinkedIn it seemed expensive at the time. I have no idea how it worked out for them but the stock has done amazing.
Profits, income are "clean data". Those who question progress certainly aren't profiting from it unless they plugged their nose and bought US index funds despite what they believed in.
income is derived from from account receivables, profit is derived from less account payables, so easy to manipulate if that makes you happy.
Wages, cash flow, dividends then. Earnings can only be "manipulated" a short time before it catches up to you. Something like "Ad Revenue" for Google can blow your mind. I remember S2007S bitching about AAPL many years ago so I looked up their sales in China. I think it was something like $50B in a year ( around $73B in 2023 ). The money for market leaders in global markets is immense. More recently, NVDA put up massive cash sales. And as I stated before, I have direct knowledge of the money some people I know are making in this economy. Those are all "clean data". The money is in the bank. None of these people or companies got there by sitting on their hands taking no risks. AMZN is making a bet based on something they know.
I know that everyone here will hate to hear this, but this is a direct symptom of a broken money system. The reason the money is there is because too much money has been created in the worth. When you had ZIRP for 15 years, what do you expect? If we had what us Bitcoiners call "hard money", none of these huge tech companies would have this massive access of capital to blow. When money is created like this, you literally bring decades worth of innovation forward, and when there is even nothing to innovate on, you just end up blowing it. As the decade comes to an end, and cheap money is replaced with hard money, all of this spending will collapse and the decades worth of expansion will have to be amortized by not much moving forward because it will all be seen as too risky to spend "hard money" on.
this is a pie in the sky self-fulfilling circle, the us centric econmonic model. alibaba has more revenues than amazon, baba also spends a lot on cloud/ai/logistics etc but its stock price is nowhere near. why? we print money.
They didnt pivot anywhere. They always had data centers..They just renamed them AI data centers. And AI itself..massive hype, over investment and ''group think''. It just a pivot of hype and bubble pumping. There is ''VERY LITTLE SUBSTANCE". Its like the McDonalds, walmart and 7eleven model. Funnel all the low IQ retail into a monopoly box of just NVDA and TSM and SMCI. With the Mag 7 all ''doing business with these 3''. This makes it easy for the short bus retail to understand and FOMO into. The extreme Low IQ model of running a stock market. The extreme Low IQ model of Running Tech industry.
You can do a lot to create ‘good data’ out of ‘bad data’. Llm models are also good in creating synthetic data Only thing that makes me doubt is Grady Booch (on X)
In the US STEM isn't a core educational driver and higher education in general is spined as elitist. As a consequence, data has been flattened in social media and quality has suffered. Parsing flat earth cosmology or the deadly sins of vaccination against scientific evidence must be a function of AI. With that said, it's also important to realize that sciences don't peddle the comfortable absolute truths so many crave. Shades of grey and further research needed tend to frustrate most. As an example, these boards are littered with narratives and opinions, most of dubious quality and some we file in our "I've learned something of value" brain drawer. AI will need to parse opinions into something coherent.
