Question is how do you link TD charts to TDW anyways? I can't find a single link on it explaining how on google.
I meant their platform thinkorswim. (TD waterhouse is the Canadian version of Ameritrade.) Forget that anyways. It seems like a complicated process that requires understanding of excel, cc+ etc. I will just out for one of the cheaper chart providers that have straightforward linking instructions.
Just tried motivwave I thought it was gonna bring the charts into the tws platform. All it did was link your account in motivewave so you can see your orders, position, trades etc. I don't get what the point of that is.
GotherL - I'm not sure what you mean by "bring the charts into the tws platform". If you mean connect to TWS to use the data for better charts and to trade in a better UI - try Medved Trader (www.medvedtrader.com).
Hi GotherL, MotiveWave is a third party platform that you would connect your IB account to, to use instead of the TWS charts. You would use MotiveWave for the charting using the IB feed. You can also place trades through the MotiveWave charts directly back to your IB account.
The biggest issue I am facing with TWS is not able to send orders instantly with hot keys or at one click of a button since I don't have live data a order ticket just pops up every single time. Can medved trader override that?
Yes, you can use Medved Trader to send trades via IB even if you do not have IB's real-time streaming data subscribed. This of course assumes you have some other datafeed that you can use in Medved Trader. You do have to disable some setting in TWS to remove that check for API orders.
