I love threads like this. They just seem to pop up from time to time. A one hit wonder followed by multiple pages of opinions, philosophies, sarcasm, and wit. Not that its a bad thing mind you, but I swear... sometimes I think Renaissance has a few shrinks (of course they do) in their army of Ph.Ds that get bored from time to time and start a thread here on ET. Ya know...just to get a feel for things outside their fortress walls. Check on the pulse of the "elite" traders. Its very important really. Kinda like a wolf when it lifts its snout to the breeze... taking it all in to paint a mental picture of what's going on in the world around it. Maybe not. Who knows. I probably would if I worked there. Toy with you yoyo's.
He was naive to think that real profitable systems would be explained or sold cheap. But that is completely different from saying:There is no such profitable trading system. The red parts of his posting, are conclusions you can only make if you know everything and think nobody is smarter then you. We call these people geniuses. Especially the second one is clearly his personal opinion: There is no such profitable trading system. "I'm a coder and data scientist. I have been working on trading for over 2 years. Spent lots of money. Every trainer i have paid lies. Because, there's no profitable system. If there's, nobody will teach you what it's. Trading is a zero-sum game. Your odds are same in Vegas. There's no such profitable trading system."
A new poster pops up with the same, ever coming back, discussion. He probably gets paid for reactiving posters on ET.
Bollinger gifted his system to the trading world...GIFTED! no system is 100% even if the system can identify certain wins, you could never trade it Because it was certain, no one would take the other side of that transaction
That is really unfair, i do not get paid i put in the most effort i get people to reply to me the most Thanks for telling me I am going to bill Baron
I think that is his English he has issues with. I understood it as him saying that if there was a profitable trading system then it would not be sold and because many snake oil salesmen advertise as if they can turn an unprofitable trader into a profitable one they make false claims. You understood it differently, all good.
I thought I was a suspicious bitch. But there is always someone in the room who tops it. What really gets to me is the sheer number of people who lend a lot of credence and trust to sales people who sell utter garbage. Reminds me of the thread by Jigsaw, page after page full of people who defended his crapware.
i played single handicap golf for 24 years......it is not only in the trading world that this happens. Incidentally if you think trading is difficult you should try golf !
trading life revolves around finding an edge, if you don't get that then forget the next steps. if you find a edge you still fail if you don't have focus, patience and money management skills. if you have the above you may still fail if you don't have the right hardware, software and data. still you may fail if you don't have low clearing cost, well capitalized and have many years experience. then when you make some money and blow it in a business you know nothing about and start all over.
Guys sorry for causing this confusion. You may be profitable but these trainers are not. They are not even trading. Forex mentors are totally scam. Futures are kinda scam. I can't say 100% scam for stock traders. If you read my title i say "almost". Also I think "almost" all traders who claim they are consistently profitable are lying too... Again, i say "almost".
