europe has become more islamic and more buddhist as well. i think we have to live with these facts and learn from america how to deal with different concepts of faith. europe will be a multi-cultural community. i personally believe that it is plain wrong if we now assume we are all so much christians and have to defend this. in fact europe is very secular and our pride is that we allow open debate and tolerate different ways of belief. THESE are the values we need to defend, not a more or less hypocrite insistance on christianity. the current worldwide discussion MUST be a battle, if you will, between fanatism and tolerance, not between two versions of fanatism. this is very, very important.
