Here we go once again What has been E-signals performance as of late for stocks and Eminis? Is it FAST & RELIABLE? Can I count on it's SPEED & ACCURACY for scalping for instance. Is E-Sig one of the best feeds available in this price range? Any other suggestions? Greatly appreciate any and all responses. Thanks for your time and patience
What has been E-signals performance as of late for stocks and Eminis? rock steady Is it FAST & RELIABLE? definitly Can I count on it's SPEED & ACCURACY for scalping for instance. yes, most do Is E-Sig one of the best feeds available in this price range? I think so
Good to hear. My concern is that I've read a few reports here with E-Sig quotes lagging, outages etc. I don't mind paying the price if the service is great. But if the quotes lag what good is it? Would appreciate a few quick comments from any other users. Thanks.
eSignal has problems with European data at peak times - US data are rock-solid imo for more information go to http://www.esignalcentral.com/ http://forum.esignal.com/
I was using Esignal about 6 months ago to trade Eminis and their quotes would often lag by up to 10 seconds several times a week, especially during busy periods...extremely frustrating. I'd open a position and my fill would be way off what i was seeing on the chart. I've sinced switched to using MyTrack with IB backup and don't have this problem. As to whether Esignal has now fixed this issue, from reading recent posts here at ET, it appears they haven't. If you're a scalper and speed is important to you, I'd go with IB feed with QT charting. It's fastest and free. But if you need speed + backfill + tick by tick, go with Mytrack or IQfeed, both excellent, reliable and fast. IB has no backfill and isn't complete data. But using IB with Quotetracker charting, it's the cheapest option out there - free, compared to $55 with Mytrack, a little cheaper than that with IQfeed (with QT reference) and a lot cheaper than Esignal.
Esignal is pretty solid for the US instruments but not very good for European. There can on occasion be a delay (more like the machine hanging for a moment while it calculates something) and this especially can occur at the most busy times. It depends what your chart set-up is. Having said that, I have not experienced any delays of the size Whiz has mentioned... Where the setup is very basic with minimal studies (and simple ones) running, then there isn't any time delay problem. Go down to tick level and yes - it can occur. Also if you run too many charts of different instruments all with too many studies you have this problem. I don't think it is the feed that causes it so much as the graphics front end. The feed itself IMO is very good indeed for the US issues. On the other hand, the programability of E-signal is very good indeed, and where the studies are disigned efficiently, they do not cause a drag. The backtesting function is not as reliable as it might be. The published minimum requirements to run the software really are minimums and not very good at that level. If you are going to run it you need lots of memory on a fast machine... Overall, I would say that it is a very good package and once you are aware how to get the best out of it should not provide any real problems. Natalie
A few weeks ago eSignal's parent company, Interactive Data (NYSE:IDC), purchased a global datafeed business. This feed performs better than the one we currently use for Europe, so we are actively working on switching over to this new source. The end result is we will also bring online over 100 new exchanges including more European exchanges, Latin America and Asia / Pacific. We expect these to come online by summer time for the eSignal 8.0 version. Chuck @eSignal
