I can easily see pictures and names as well as hourly/rates of everyone. https://www.upwork.com/search/profiles/?nbs=1&q=Jhon Quite far from anonymous.
none that im sharing related to trading, I use my own work to make money, the opensource stuff i worked on 20 years ago is still out there, and many people are using it unknowingly. you will probably face the question: if you are such an algorithmic trading guru, why do you need a job?
Who said that I am a guru? I asked for an example of your work because you intermediately were able to undermine mine, so I wanted to see an example of what you would consider a high level one. Since you are not sharing anything I can't only say that you are just posting empty words. Looking at the responses, I am starting to think that this forum is far away from "elite" and it was a bad idea to post the message in the first place.
Just read the post below. I am sure you will learn something there. https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010609234-ID-Verification-Badge
Posting here is definitely not going to give you the lucrative contracts or the £££ which you may have been expecting. And whilst you have the right to look down on Upwork, be aware that it is a very popular site and a good starting point for people who want some algo work done. I myself have had two Python scripts written for me, which do exactly what I want and have cost me the princely sum of just under £100 each. PS - pls take this as a recommendation rather than a dig, but from a NLP point of view, using the word 'angry' in your name is not helping.
I never looked down on Upwork and I never said that I am expecting a very lucrative contract coming from this forum. I can see Upwork as a great place for people that can use it, if you read the thread from the beginning you will see the reason why I wouldn't use it. I have nothing against it as a platform, it is just not for me. If I have to post my name and rate I will spoil any other form of contact that could have with the regular recruiters that I work with. Angrytrader is just a nickname and I am sure that you can't see any anger from my responses. For F*ck Sake 1001 is not the greatest either.
perhaps my reply was a bit curt, let me find some time this afternoon. even if I told you how I did it and my story, everyones path is different and I dont know if you want to go that route. I started out reading Measure Theory and Integration by MM Rao front to back and it was 6 months before I thought I understood parts of it. This was 2007, I've worked as a programmer since 1996; 4 years of that being paid a decent salary to work in an international equities market making group before I was completely wiped out by car wreck and required back surgery, used all my savings to survive, etc. I know that, mathematically, any system based on mechanical rules that trigger is just some variation of a random mechanical system which will almost surely net you zero profit over time; there is plenty of rigorous research published on this and you can find the articles for free on sci-hub if you cant afford the journal paywalls; google scholar is a great resource. If you have a system that works, you would trade it and make money, otherwise you need an employer that has access to dumb retail order flow and then you have to deal with company politics and draconian culture, etc. These firms are not looking to hire anyone, esp. without prior experience and a track record, the dudes I worked with were old school, one of them used to work for kurzweil at some old place called fat katz; anyway, you are right most posters here arent that elite but if you want an idea of what the pros do , see sites like nuclearphynance.com and wilmott.com.. anyway im happily 'self-employed' now.. peace
