  4. I've had to do this multiple times too. Some of my friends, not only women, can't understand the purpose of daytrading (or in your case, algo trading). Sometimes just to get them off I'll say I'm a stockbroker.

say you are computer programmer. you can also add that, you're so good that only need to work 1 or 2 hours a day to make a 8 figure pay.

    i hope you're doing 8 figure otherwise you're not a a real algo trader...

in that case, you can say you're the typical visual basic programmer. work all day while watching porn on the pc and eating nothing else but burgers and fries.

the former is better for chicks while the latter will get more condescending sympathy here in et.

  6. I tell them, "I manage an investment account in the futures market that averages 100% per week." They are either happy for me or mad at me... happy that someone actually makes money instead of feeding his account, or mad at me for the same reason.

Thanks, I needed that. But how do you watch porn and charts at the same time?

I usually say "Hey there hot-cakes, I am in the finance business... You know, stocks and bonds - that sort of thing. It pays the bills real well, so let me take you somewhere real nice for dinner..."

Next thing you know, panties are off, sun comes up, she goes home, and you are back writing code on monday morning.

    Easy as that..

Just say your an investor or a broker. If the person knows about the subject, generally they will have a follow-up inquiry. If they don't, they will simply assume you are boring.

  10. For friends or chatting with guys 'investor' is plenty unless they want to know more.

For women 'racecar driver' or 'brain surgeon' depending on the response you're looking for.

Why would you feel the need to nerd out about boring computer stuff?
