no, i do not use any of that stuff. You can find them by looking at the charts for unusual patterns or shapes and patterns that do not look very human. I.E. just too perfect. and you drill down into those and look for unusually high volume and then you can typically spot them. Because they put so much money into programming and computer the trades are quite large but not sphisticated. the biggest problem the retail trading community in my opinion about algos is that they are sophisiticated. ALgos use large size to bully the market on short time frames. If you truly believe in a sfree market then we can coutner act algos by finding them and tradign against them.. problem is they are backed by huge money and can run you over very easily. I wasn't saying that book trader or any of that stuff isn't good. if you find somethign that works then great. But you have to the tools in your charting software to find them (ALGO) visually. another key is that they RINSE AND REPEAT rinse and repeat here is the sme shot from eysterday but on a different time frame
Here are a couple new algo's that showed up recently. Looks like a way to get spread or shares wihout too much added volatility. If these algo's cannot reduce volatility then they wiil end up shooting themselves in the foot when peopel are too scared to invest.
You have no time frame on your charts, no actual time this happens, and no volume. A bit more info would help to analyze the charts better......at least for me.
i turned the first algo i posted in thread over to the cme. took 3 months but they said yes.it was disruptive trade practices bit pf xourse nothing os coming of it.
... a consolidation/pullback pattern is disruptive? This pattern has existed for decades. Think if you were a mutual fund building up a large position, would you just buy up the order book, or pace your order and relax your buying pressure to see if you can get a better price. It’s a combination of algos reproducing what use to happen in the pits.
it is not what just used to happen in the pit. You thin you had guys slinging 3000 lots in 1 second to turn around and sling 1500. 1 second later? yeah right.. if you tried to do that in the pit then the guys woulnd't take the opposite side of your trade or they would stick you buy doing the opposite of your trade until you stopped doing it. There was a check and balance and CODE OF CONDUCT unlike todays algo's that are SPOOFING legally. just use common sense and say ok.. how are these large companies making riskless money in these markets? duh duh duh.. sure they are just that smart huh.. nope. smart at programmign and smart at proteectign teh computer programs that mass cancel orders and manipulate the book in sub second time frames.. yes. absolutely
if you believe that then why did the cme call me yesterdeay and let me know the investigation is still ongoing? and that yes there is something being done about it? Guess what they ahd someone call me who barely spoke english and she called from some conference room. A soon as i said .. no worries I am going to the cftc with it.. they had someone else call me back. i didn't answer. I am goign to do it all in email from now on so it is on record.
