Elder apparantly has some unresolved issues in the following areas: Intellectual Property marketing self esteem and self control Perhaps he is to trading discipline what Jimmy Swaggart was to sexual morality. He preaches it because he feels the pain of the other side.
Elder did not ask you to code his indicators. He obviously prefers to build them himself inhouse. It's his right. As for the name, he offered you a solution that made it clear to everyone that these were your take on his indicators and were not to be confused with his company. (ie: "Ellis on Elder")
Why did he enter into negotiations with me then with respect to my original proposal? (i.e. that I program and provide the indicators for eSignal.) His solution was based on the lie that he owned the name which subsequently turned out not to be true. He duped me into believing that. I had already established search engine rankings and keywords based on a lot of hard work and he wanted me to hand that over to him for no compensation and he tried to dupe me into doing that by lying about the ownership of the name.
I like all of the Amazon "reviews" for his books... wonder who was hired to write all those "reader from Blah" comments.
I'm not sure what your problem is. You think Alexander ELDER shoud go around every web site in the universe and buy his own name to make sure that people don't impersonate him? You're just trying to mooch off his name & reputation. He was nice enough to allow you to do it as long as you make it clear that you are not affiliated with him. Negotiations are just that, negotiations, they're not contracts. You did the work first and then started your negotiations knowing full well that he would not give you the time of day if you approach him BEFORE starting the work. (Because he already has staff in-house that can code these indicators for him.)
My problem is that he lied in order to manipulate me and then he threatened me with violence. Does that sound like someone who you would visit as a psychiatrist? Or continue business negotiations with?
I disagree. Your problem is that anyone with half a brain can do what you did but you want a working professional to give you clout because of technicalities. I can understand how both of you have frustrations now. You tried to corner a cobra and don't want him to bite back at you. Because a person is a psychiatrist it does not preclude them of acting like a heathen. You are misinformed about the profession. Also, you are not his patient so he owes you nothing in that respect. If anything, he could have been a gentlemen but i doubt many would hand over their work to a programmer. Dime a dozen, you guys. This is my thought. You may wholeheartedly disagree. That's fine with me. be good. alex EDIT: fwiw... Most russian people exhibit strong verbal and physical emotion when they perceive a threat. It is part of the culture to dominate ones domain through language and physical assertion. I'm not excusing his behavior toward you by stating this and understand that he works in the United States and not his former Soviet Union. But, you planned to work with him judging by your approach and needed to know this. He wasn't gracing you on how you approached him. He was sizing you up to eliminate you from his world and you are upset with this. This is how i see it.
