Unlike you I actually talk to people in the medical industry and am related to people who were on the frontlines, first teams, to see the COVID virus locally. Nurses are being sent home here. There was a spike in cases for approximately 1 month. Elective surgeries have been cancelled and the adult unit is operating at 2/3 capacity. I simply go by what the experts on the ground tell me. Not some politically motivated CDC "doctor" who hasnt step foot outside his office and onto a hospital floor in several decades. Nearly no one will listen to them. Hell, everyone I've talked to can't even get a COVID test without showing symptoms despite staring this "horrible" pandemic right in the face. But you won't believe me because like most people who think masks save lives you haven't consulted actual professionals who understand how these things work. Perhaps when you realize you don't know anything, you'll go ask people who do know something. Maybe you can explain to me how putting a dish towel over your face that won't filter 1 micron wide virons is going to save anyone? I'm no expert but 0.04 microns (COVID) is significantly smaller than 1 micron (ebola) and a dish towel doesn't work there either!
https://www.covid-19canada.com/ They don't. IFR Canada = 9023 / 121809 = 0.07 IFR US = 172,527 / 5,525,381 = 0.03 Weird how numbers work. Almost like the strain in the US is less lethal. Sucks when you fall back to the reddit-tier numbers don't lie response and don't even bother calculating the IFR yourself.
There's a great example of the blatant stupidity some of you have concerning the virus. According to your data. an extra 91,000 Americans died and that number is getting worse every single day. Do you know why our virus appears to be more "lethal" ? It's because the vast majority of our deaths occurred early in the process before the medical community knew how to deal with Covid. But do carry on posting ignorant shit online. You can be depended on for that. The blood of 91,000 Americans and counting rests on idiots like you if we are going to be brutally honest.
You're trolling me at this point so I'm going to cut off here. You've thrown baseless insults at me twice and despite me pulling up the literal numbers for Canada and the US and calculating the IFR you simply fall back to lambasting me some more. So until you either show me it's much worse in the US than in Canada, and you explain to me how tying a dish towel to my face will lower the IFR from 0.03 to 0, I have no interest in continuing this here.
Buddy, it is MUCH WORSE in the US. This is even a topic. Are you really this stupid ? 1005 Americans died TODAY from Covid. In Canada, 4 people. This has been typical of the numbers for weeks now. Ontario, with a population of 15M people including one of the largest cities in NA has less then 100 new Covid cases every day running for more then a week. IFR for the year has to be just about the most useless stat you could pull up. But I suppose it's right in line with the idiots on here who think Florida's numbers are fine because they haven't caught up to overall NY or NJ death tolls yet.
Bunch of geezers, fatties and sickos in Dem states dying a few months earlier than would be expected. Any reason why Blue staters are BY FAR the most affected by covid? Maybe too much soy and flu shots? Excess deaths swung up for a Minute and slammed right back down. A global pandemic - this is not...
Apparently you don't know the difference between the CFR (Case Fatality Rate) and IFR (Infection Fatality Rate). You provided numbers for the CFR (while mis-identifying them as IFR) but failed to provide them as percentages (as required to be legitimate). Let look at the correct information: CFR Canada = 9023 / 121809 = 7.4% CFR US = 172,527 / 5,525,381 = 3.1% The proper way to compare countries is on a per capita basis - as in the number of deaths per million in population. The U.S. currently has 522 COVID deaths per million population; Canada currently has 239 COVID deaths per million in population. The U.S. currently has 16,784 COVID cases per million in population; Canada has a mere 3,230 COVID cases per million in population.
Sweden has fewer cases per million than the US And roughly the same deaths per million as the US. Currently near zero deaths and very limited cases. No lockdowns no masks limited social distancing.
Yes... there is a complete thread dedicated to Sweden's complete failure. They managed to both tank their economy worse than their neighbors and have a much greater number of deaths than their neighbors. Sweden is pretty much a complete disaster. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...eden-stands-apart.342513/page-83#post-5179179
