Considering how much people lie or at best minimize how much they drink the study is probably flawed from that perspective alone. Over the years I have met hundreds of alcoholics and problem drinkers. The way people metabolize alcohol can and does vary widely. I doubt that one or two drinks a week, or even a day would be harmful in any meaningful way to the average person, unless your two drinks a day were like mine which were the equivalent of about a 1/5. LOL. For me a drink would bring disaster, but for most, just a way to relax and enjoy the evening. Pro tip. Do not drink a case of beer and then eat 3 chili dogs. Exploseive doesn't quite define the result.
It's often a chicken and egg problem with these studies. What if a person is drinking because he has other problems with health or otherwise? I have no doubt about alcohol being harmful but it's important to be cynical about these studies.
I was in the car on my way to an appointment a short while ago, and they had a doctor on the radio commenting on the study. Apparently the evidence is quite compelling. Sure, I don’t immediately accept any study on its face, but I don’t automatically dismiss it either. Let’s see if it had legs.
Despite ongoing gaslighting by the alcohol industry it is clear that alcohol acts as a poison on the body, provides no health benefit whatsoever, and is addictive. Addicts don't want to hear it though so they will rationalize their behavior in whatever way their cognitive dissonance requires. Perhaps this particular study is flawed, or perhaps it isn't, but arguing about it is just a distraction from what you already know...
The thing is, you shared it without adding your opinion. Thus we have to assume you agreed with it. When I post a link, you always know which side I am on because I add a comment. Anyhow, there is one very simple rule to a long and healthy life: moderation. Do everything in moderation and also having good genes (but what can you do about that?) Mormons are one of the longest living groups in the USA. No cigarette, alcohol or coffee. Question is: do you want to live like a Mormon?
No, but I do not want my precious tax dollars wasted on life support for fat, alcoholic, and addict fucks. Each to his own I say, but when the clock strikes 12 then also each on his own. If they have private coverage great, they paid into it, they should get the proper care, but all those other weasels who cause a huge drag on health care that is funded through tax dollars should pay out of their own pockets for their irresponsible life choices...
