I'm typing this slowly for your benefit. The scientists never "fucked up" on smoking. They knew for a very, very long time that it was carcinogenic. However, that wouldn't do now, would it? Therefore, the tobacco companies got mercenary lobbyists who would sell their mothers for the right price to create obfuscation along with scientists who had their price. In case you were sleeping, this all came out a while back. They have been exposed for what they were. The tobacco companies' scientists and their lobbyists were SOBs without peer. They knew the score but they did and said what the purse strings told them to. In a video previously noted in a global warming thread some months ago, the lobbyists and scientists who worked on behalf of the tobacco companies were named. Coincidentally, many of the same mercenaries are now doing their business on global warming. Are the dots coming together for you now? The climatologists were putting their research out with the best of intentions. People make mistakes, and honest mistakes are understandable. The tobacco lobbyists and scientists said whatever needed to be said to sell cigarettes and avoid lawsuits. Period. Do you see how that works? Which one do you think is wearing the plaid jacket and trying to sell you a Ford Pinto? Does it not trouble you that the Bush administration has actually limited what government scientists are allowed to report? That political functionaries are editing scientific research that they probably don't even comprehend? Does that not sound any alarm bells for you? No previous administration has ever clamped down on the government's own scientists in this way.
