. June 1, 2008 SouthAmerica: If you are making a ton of money then who cares about becoming president of the United States - mainly now at this historic turning point in US history when the job it will come loaded with a massive amount of major problems that requires immediate solutions? Right now it seems to me that Al Gore has made his choice by adopting the Green Party â green as in the color of money â tons of US dollars. I wonder if we can blame Al Gore for choosing to make a ton of money over becoming the next president of the United States. Al Gore knows that the United States economy is in complete free fall and the next president is going to inherit a wreckage of a country that is going through the Perfect Storm. ***** Al Gore's investment vehicle Generation Investment Management, which Gore co-founded with David Blood, formerly of Goldman Sachs - The firm has about $1 billion under management, with returns above benchmarks. ***** âAl Gore's Investment Firm Moving to New Yorkâ - Generation Investment Management Signs 10-Year Deal at Bank of America Tower Written by Andrew C. Burr CoStar Group â May 31, 2008 Al Gore's sustainable investment management firm is moving its U.S. office into 5,500 square feet at Bank of America Tower, the green high-rise under development in midtown Manhattan. Generation Investment Management (GIM) signed a 10-year deal to relocate to the 52-story office building from Washington, DC. The tower totals more than 2.1 million square feet between 42nd and 43rd streets and will serve as the headquarters of Bank of America, which will occupy 1.1 million square feet. It is poised to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the program's highest possible rating, when it delivers later this year. "Given the amount of environmental consideration that went into designing Bank of America Tower, it is a fitting location for Generation Investment Management, and represents the kind of innovation the firm is trying to advance," said Ken Rapp of CB Richard Ellis, who handled the deal for GIM along with CBRE's Sally Wilson and Ramsey Feher. Tom Bow and Eric Englehardt handled the deal in-house for the owner and developer, New York-based The Durst Organization. Other tenants that have committed to the property include Marathon Asset Management, Elie Tahari Ltd. and HBK Investments. Gore co-founded GIM in 2004. The firm invests in sustainable companies and has another office in London. Source: http://www.costar.com/News/Article.aspx?id=6A19280A80B2EDDD97E300AD8CC11F43 .
You are just now getting this SA? We have been telling you this for about a year now. I personally have been telling you the guy won't run from early in this thread, but you were positive that he would be the nominee. I am not rubbing it in, but you really should listen to some of the Americans on this board that know a bit about politics. You were accepting no argument whatsoever until the fat lady sung, while it was very obvious to most of us. Jayord
. June 4, 2008 SouthAmerica: At this point Al Gore should not endorse Barack Obama. He should stay away from any controversy and he should position himself for a presidential run in 2012 against John McCain's reelection bid. .
Here you have a point as Mac will be a one termer if he wins. This is not a done deal however. Obama is ahead of Mac at the moment. Mac has an advantage in the electoral college, but he could easily fuck that up. One blown gasket during a debate, and it may be all over. Also, should OB choose Strickland, and take Ohio, it s all over. Assuming Mac is Prez, Gore STILL might not want to run as he has a sweet deal now and people like him (that has always been important to Gore). Not having to run against the Clintons may nudge him in that direction, but then again, Hillary will probably run as the front runner for the Dems again if Mac is Prez. Gore knows first hand how nasty the Clintons are, and I bet that had something to do with his decision this time around.
First of all...Mac is going to be one and done...assuming he wins...which im not sure he is going to...he woudl be arond 76 in 2012??? Al gore will not run in 2012 for one simple reason...the same reason he did not run this year: HE CANNOT WIN!!!!...once he went over to the far far left tree hugging side, all the moderate democrats left him...and trust me..moderate democrats ( ie the southern sun belt) decide every election...Reagan and GWB got them and won...so did Bubba....Kerry and Gore lost them and lost the election.
I do not know what SA has been saying lately - But this is the opportunity of a lifetime for Gore. All he needs to do is back someone who would take a few votes from mccains right and Gore could carbon footprints would lead the green party right to the white house. Although it might be easier from some other party. He would destroy Obama - and frankly I do not see how McCain would be him heads up either. But if he splits off some votes to Obama he has to make sure a true conservative takes votes from mccain. I would vote for Gore just to establish a third party. (i voted for perot because I never trusted any Bushes - but I did vote for w once against Gore and now lament that decision. )
