You can assume whatever you'd like to assume. It doesn't matter if I'm trading 100 SPY or 100 ES or 100 .SPXW231110C4385 (though I wish I had bought 100 .SPXW231110C4400) It doesn't even matter if I'm trading nothing at all and I'm really just a homeless guy snapping picks off a stolen iPhone. The chart and notes speak for themselves. We are discussing a trading methodology. Therefore, if you want to frame it as "what would have done" that takes nothing away from the discussion of the examples of the method I have attempted to show here. You could also frame it as what you could have done had you listened to me lol I'm showing examples of how one would use concepts taught in the Brooks Trading course to read the charts and trade based on those readings. If you or anyone wishes to criticize the method shown, that would be welcome, so long as the criticism likewise used examples drawn from current price action. My measured move submission for the aforementioned IQ test:
ofc it matters. If it's hindsight vs. production trades. If it's not hitting the tape... then you're wasting my time.
Isn't more accurate to say that you're wasting your time? Isn't it enough to mark me long, for the purpsoe of this discussion, at the level I posted I would get long? In this case, don't even give me the benefit of the dounbt and mark me at long at 4374. Instead, mark me long at at 4486.75. If neither seem reasonable to you, then I would say that you are not being reasonable. ES will probably trade 4417 before today's close. If it does, it isn't my fault.
I'll tell you what we should do. You and I will enter the United States Investing Championship in the enhanced growth division in 2024 and then we won't be wasting anyone's time. How's that? Financial Competitions (financial-competitions.com)
No. You're producing historical analogs w/o anything to back it up and then replying with your sample size of one (being long 4374). Bye.
A measured move takes a previous swing and adds it the next swing in the same direction, not to the prior measured swing high or swing low. Adding a range to its high or subtracting it from its low is just an expansion.
The problem with ET is so many are here to publicly masturbate their egos rather than talk shop. Very little elite here, and even less trader. Measured moves of trading ranges, especially the ES, is very common. Measured moves of swings, especially on the ES, are also very common. No need to add undue complexity and obfuscation by making up a false distinction between "expansions" vs "measured moves."
