A time and place advantage can help big time, but most will not successfully seize the opportunity, as you have done.

And even with these advantages, few of the Greats or highly successful were overnight successes.

    Imported Exception:

When a person or a group enters an area where the oportunity is LARGE and the competition is weak, or the entrants have a large advantage others do not have, World Beaters suddenly appear.

Example: Decades ago a group of Las Vegas poker players armed with superior knowledge and snarts entered the US options market against weak competition and cleaned up big time. They went on to incorporate and make many, many billions of dollars trading: Susquehanna International Group.

The Medalion hedge fund run by Renaissance Technologies has crushed from the outset with few losing streaks, for decades. But they knew things others did not and did things others could not. By many metrics, they are the best.

Professor Thorp traded stock vs options for decades with rarely a losing quarter. When the anomaly he had found dried up, he retired.

A group of Las Vegas blackjack players ran over to Hong Kong and amassed over a billion dollars in winnings after developing edges others did not have.

Xela, you are winning in a brutally competitive market without (that I know of) highly proprietary edges. Kudos!!

How do you know she does not have a proprietary edge?

Xela is one of the ET pros I followed, I tried to learn a little from them each time I read their posts. You make a lot of sense to me too.

    Best wishes to you both.

  3. Xela is winning in What? ....a Pro in what?

Did she show you or tell you what her trading performance records are, o_O

I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone, or debate anyone, or bring anyone down...But just asking for verification of some sort,

It's easy to sound smart and wise and successful, yet be full of stuff or a failure in actual trading,

A good teacher does not have to be a great trader. Her trading records just like yours are not important to me. What is important is what I could learn from her posts and others :finger:: i.e., Mavrick74, Martinghoul, newwurldmn, Sig, sel, drcha, and recently, comagnum, Xela, vanzandt, you among others.....

For me learning the basic principles and approaches so I can use them to formulate my own methodology is what make ET works for me. If I can find something to incorporate into my own trading tool kits and provide a positive effect, I am grateful and thankful.

Trading is very personal and so much of it has to fit one's own personality.

    Regards,

Ummm... the strongest ideas usually come from winning traders.

Serriously... this is a good rule of thumb In most areas of life. But of course not an absolute.

World champion chess players have coaches who have won in professional competition as do most pro fighters.

Losing traders and losers in all fields are much more likely to produce bad ideas, scams and delusional thinking.

Losers who are posers are likely to hurt you if you buy into their nonsense.

    All this said:

I have reason to think Xela is indeed a winning trader with strong ideas; quite a find on public trading forums.

  8. You should be able to judge from Xela's writings if she knows her stuff or not. And if you can't, it shows that she is so far ahead of you that you'll never catch up. Good or bad, her actual trading records are nobody's business, and are not required to be shown by someone who makes such a great effort to help new traders and others here on ET.
My 40+ years of trading experience tells me that Xela is by far one of the most knowledgeable commentators that I've seen on ET in 10 years.
Asking someone who so kindly shares their expertise as she does for verification is down right rude.

Kind of irrelevant, but I have a hundred bucks that Xela is Alex, so a he....

As for Al, some people are good teachers but bad traders and some traders are good but can't teach...
