I'd rather learn from the market. But then I'm not much of a follower, and the successful millionaire trader is not likely to give me my money back if I follow him and lose money.

On the other hand, if he were to provide a written guarantee . . .

Or provide a trading plan so that anyone who is interested can determine whether or not the approach is worth taking.

And if that is your concern wouldn't it make more sense to spend your time urging people to do the proper testing before Trading it rather than demanding proof from the person presenting the method?

  4. Anyone who's involved in the market knows that it is likely to take you a long time to just get familiar in the trading environment. The different markets, the different approaches, etc. Then you'll have to make a decision about which path to follow and start working on that trading plan and learning to trade or analyzy the market within that framework.

What a successful trader can do is at least give you a nudge in the right direction and not waste your time by pursuing stuff that simply doesn't work.

Learning to trade and developing a trading plan takes more than one evening. It's likely to take years. So, is it fair that a losing trader influences another human being to waste one or two years of his life on a study that bears no fruits? I don't think so.

But now I'm done with this discussion.

  5. Well, I do that as well.

Still, I'd rather not have people waste their TIME (which is more valuable than money) on things that are useless.

true. but then again without testing who is to judge what is and is not useless? and might something be useful to you but completely useless to me? and vice versa of course

Actually, if one knows how to test, it needn't take more than a few weeks, particularly with replay.

You lost a ton of money on a "mentor" who didn't know what he was doing. Your take-away from this has been to demand that anyone who claims any sort of success produce "proof" of his claims. But this is appropriate only if you're looking for someone else to follow. Your take-away should have been that the only reliable teacher is the market, at which point you would have spent your time studying it. Instead, you've chosen to waste time wallowing in victimhood.

If you mean by asking for a track record,or some verifiable proof that the methods one is touting can be substantiated, then I guess I am raising my hand.

Seems to me if you are an advocate of not posting returns yet making claims, you have something to hide.

If one is "making claims" and doesn't provide a trading plan, then I'd be inclined to agree with you.

40,let me ask you a question.Suppose you just got your ass kicked,or someone dear to you did.You have decide you want to learn to defend yourself. Would you read a book on self defense?

Would you study Aikido,Tai Chi or any other "choreographed" primarily non contact art?

Would you study Karate or Tae Kwon Do?

Or would you lean towards BJJ,Muay Thai or Judo?

And would you prefer the teacher be a verifiable bad ass and/or his students be tournament champions?
