The premise that unarmed statistically non violent illegal immigrants will endanger ICE agents if given a heads up does not compare to our troops going hot into enemy territory to hunt the most dangerous man in the world getting a heads up.

This whole narrative of "I didn't let them know because of leaks" is complete BS. You know it, Donnie knows it, all of Washington knows it. Why can't we just be honest and admit Trump is a petty asshole?

  2. Yeh well, duh!!

Also- and I could be wrong because I just saw a snippet- but in the part that I heard, Trump said he told the Ruskies that we had planes traveling over air space which they were or were trying to control but did not detail what the raid or mission was. Always good to not start WW3 in trying to take out an isis cockroach. Ya think? So just to recap: Telling the russians was appropriate to coordinate to save American lives and the success of the mission. But telling Schiff and Pelosi only ads unnecessary chatter and security risk. You are welcome.

Also, there is no such thing as a "potential leak" with Schiff and Pelosi. You tell them and it is out there, and we have members of congress who speak to buddies over that way. Not going to name names, but I am just hoping that Minnesota has not lowered their flag to half staff in mourning over Abdul El Cockroachi's death.

  5. Politics arises in both instances in regard to the presidents.

The difference is that when Osama was killed there was not a conservative on the planet who did not think a good thing had happened. In other words they were happy for America and the world without regard to the president or as a secondary factor for some. But in this instance you see lefty bootlickers right here on the forum begin to water down the success of the raid and talk about El Cockroachi just committing suicide- for the purpose of diminishing the magnanimty of the work that our forces did.

The astute can see the difference.

Under the heading of, "YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY COULD NEVER IN YOUR FUCKING LIFE MAKE THIS SHIITE UP" The Washington Post continues to extinguish itself:

UPDATED: Washington Post changes obituary headline to describe Baghdadi as 'austere religious scholar'

    goddam, that is postively Orwellian.

Al-Baghdadi’s Death Came Despite Trump’s Actions, Military Officials Say
Mr. Trump’s abrupt decision to pull forces from northern Syria disrupted meticulous planning for the raid on the ISIS leader and forced the Pentagon to press ahead with a risky night operation.

WASHINGTON — The death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Islamic State leader, in an American commando raid in Syria on Saturday happened largely in spite of President Trump’s actions, not because of them, according to military, intelligence and counterterrorism officials.

The surprising information about Mr. al-Baghdadi’s general location — in a village deep inside a part of northwestern Syria controlled by rival Qaeda groups — came following the arrest and interrogation of one of Mr. al-Baghdadi’s wives and a courier this past summer, two American officials said.

Armed with that initial tip, the C.I.A. worked closely with Iraqi and Kurdish intelligence officials in Iraq and Syria to identify Mr. al-Baghdadi’s more precise whereabouts and to put spies in place to monitor his periodic movements. The C.I.A. continued to coordinate with the Iraqis and Kurds even after Mr. Trump’s decision to withdraw American troops from northern Syria earlier this month left the Syrian Kurds to confront a Turkish offensive alone.

The Army’s elite Delta Force commando unit began drawing up and rehearsing plans over the summer to conduct a secret mission to kill or capture the ISIS leader, and faced huge hurdles. The location was deep inside territory controlled by Al Qaeda. The skies over that part of the country were controlled by Syria and Russia. The military called off missions at the last minute at least twice.

Mr. Trump’s abrupt decision to pull out American forces from northern Syria disrupted the meticulous planning and forced Pentagon officials to press ahead with a risky, night raid before their ability to control troops and spies and reconnaissance aircraft disappeared, the military and other officials said.

“It wasn’t until Thursday and then Friday the president chose his option and gave us the green light to proceed as we did yesterday,” Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper said on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday.

Mr. Esper said he did not know if the United States would have been able to carry out the helicopter raid against Mr. al-Baghdadi’s compound had American troops been completely withdrawn from Syria, as Mr. Trump had originally planned.

“I’d have to consult with our commanders about that,” Mr. Esper said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

In addition to Mr. Trump’s account, more than a half-dozen Pentagon, military, intelligence and counterterrorism officials provided this chronology of the raid after the president approved the operation.

Around midnight Sunday morning — 5 p.m. Saturday in Washington — eight American helicopters, primarily CH-47 Chinooks, took off from a military base near Erbil, Iraq.

Flying low and fast to avoid detection, the helicopters quickly crossed the Syrian border and then flew all the way across Syria itself — a dangerous 70-minute flight in which the helicopters took sporadic groundfire — to the Barisha area just north of Idlib city, in western Syria. Just before landing, the helicopters and other warplanes began firing on a compound of buildings, providing cover for commandos with the Delta Force and their military dogs to descend into a landing zone.

Mr. Trump seemed eager to provide details of the raid during a White House news conference on Sunday.

The president said that with the helicopter gunships firing from above, the commandos bypassed the front door, fearing a booby trap, before destroying one of the compound’s walls. That allowed them to rush through and confront a group of ISIS fighters.

The president, along with Mr. Esper, Vice President Mike Pence, and Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, watched full-motion video of the raid that was piped into the White House Situation Room from surveillance aircraft orbiting over the battlefield.

The Delta Force commandos, under fire, entered the compound, where they shot and killed a number of people. Mr. Trump said they also removed 11 children from harm’s way,

Mr. al-Baghdadi ran into an underground tunnel, with the American commandos in pursuit. Mr. Trump said that the ISIS leader took three children with him, presumably to use as human shields from the American fire. Fearing, apparently correctly, that Mr. al-Baghdadi was wearing a suicide vest, the commandos dispatched a military dog to subdue Mr. al-Baghdadi, Mr. Trump said.

It was then that the Islamic State leader set off the explosives, wounding the dog and killing the three children, Mr. Trump said.

Mr. Esper did not repeat the “whimpering” and “crying” assertion made by Mr. Trump. “I don’t have those details,” he said. “The president probably had the opportunity to talk to the commanders on the ground.”

Altogether, the American troops were on the ground in the compound for around two hours, Mr. Trump said, clearing the buildings of fighters and scooping up information that the president said contained important details on ISIS operations. Mr. Trump said the commandos already had DNA samples from the Islamic State leader, which he said they used to make a quick assessment that they had the right man.

Once all the Americans had piled back into their helicopters and started the return flight to Iraq — using the same route out as they used coming in, Mr. Trump said — American warplanes bombed the compound to ensure it was physically destroyed, Mr. Esper said. Just after 9 p.m. Washington time Saturday — four hours after the helicopters took off — Mr. Trump tweeted, “Something very big has just happened!”

OBAMA WHITE HOUSE PHOTOGRAPHER SUGGESTS TRUMP SITUATION ROOM PHOTO OF UNFOLDING AL-BAGHDADI RAID WAS STAGED

The raid, as reported, took place at 3:30PM Washington time. The photo, as shown in the camera IPTC data, was taken at "17:05:24". https://t.co/XV0MFfFiTt

Another Twitter user said it didn't seem unreasonable that Trump and the generals "were still there 2 hours later waiting for the crew to return to the base," when the picture was taken. "Sure, it's possible," Souza replied.

In response to another now-deleted tweet, Souza continued acknowledging, that at the very least, it is possible the raid was still ongoing when Trump was photographed Saturday. "It's entirely possible that the raid was still going on at 5:05 p.m. Before drawing definite conclusions about the photo, reporters need to nail down the actual timeline of the raid."

Daily Kos Trending News Manager Jennifer Hayden remarked that a Trump golf outing tracker showed the president was golfing at 3:33 p.m. Washington time, as the raid was happening.

  8. Lots of lefty talk about the Trump angle.

    That's how they process everything.

Their highest wish would have been that the whole thing failed, lots of Americans and civilians were killed and it was a complete disaster. That is what would make them puff up all over with pride and what success looks like for them.

That is what is for them to be an American. Just in it for the trump take-down value.

And the Canadians? Well, publishing pictures of Trudeau dressed as Alladin in brownface are the closest they are going to come to being able to show pictures of Abdul Al Cockroachi.

  9. Opinions are going to vary and I don't want to get into that just yet as all the details are still unfolding. I am on the record that the removal of American troops from Syria is a mistake and will stand by that for now. If, and it's a YUGE IF, there is some sustainable peace in Syria as several months pass then and only then will I acknowledge that Trump made the right move. Until then I remain suspicious of any move Trump makes in the region.

WTF do the Canadians have to do with any of this? Is your argument so weak that you are desperately grasping at any straw to defend your viewpoint?
