NEW YORK (AP) -- Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a network official told the AP.

The network had denied rumors just a month ago that it would file for bankruptcy, but on Friday Air America said negotiations with a creditor from the company's early days had broken down.

The network will stay on the air while it resolves issues with its creditors, spokeswoman Jaime Horn told the Associated Press. A formal announcement was expected to be made later Friday.

  4. Is there supposed to be a point to this bankruptcy, other than that progressives tend to think for themselves while conservatives need Rush Limbaugh to distribute talking points, that computer literate liberals can use internet to exchnage ideas while conservative religious fundamentalists need preachers to tell them what to believe?

  5. No. The point is, Rush has a big audience but AA doesn't. Therefore, there are way more rightwing nuts than there are liberals.

It is a foregone conclusion that the Republicans are going win the Nov election by a landslide.

  6. They tanked because they had no entertainment value. The show joins a long list of former comedians that have turned into angry political commentators. Like there wasn't enough already. Yawn!

  7. While that's a fair comment the right has a bunch of extremely angry political commentators who are hugely successful. It says more about the right than about Air America or liberals.

Bullshit! Do you ever listen to AA or Rush. AA is nothing but a bunch of whiny, candy assed liberals having a bitch fest. At least Rush has some humor. The only time Al Franken can sell his books is if he puts Rush on the cover. LOSER!:D

  9. Agreed, but they do throw in the occassional non-partisan joke every now and then. Air America was just too heavy handed in it's critique of American politics. Ya gotta lighten up every once and awhile.

  10. Actually Rush does not just have some humor, he is hilarious and his dittohead callers are even funnier. The nonsense he's spewing is indeed far more entertaining than whatever AA could possibly come up with. Too bad too many rightwingers take him seriously and take his words as gospel.
