    stevet,

I know many people who like building systems and hate to trade - trading takes a sort of being-able-to-withstand-pain which they lack; therefore, they choose to profit from their own field of expertise.

I also know others who develop systems, trade the latest/best, and sell last year's models.

And then, ther's a very good, well known, systems developer who trades his system (making good $$) and also sells it - he sees no problem sharing it because the market is so vast and the signals need to be interpreted anyway, which means that trades do not conflict (but it might not matter even if they did.)

Last - I have been trading a swing trading system for futures for more than a year now and it's done very well.

Other than that, I agree with you... :)

I do NOT believe in systems - but i do believe that a trader who is successful will have a methodology that works for the trader in a time frame and the more succesful the trader, the more adaptive to more time frames the trader is

i do NOT believe that there is anyone who sells something for hundreds or thousands - that will directly make the buyer more than the seller received or even one cent for that matter - the seller would have to be a moron if that was not the case

the better the tool is at handling the more basic functions, the better value it is for the trader, since it will be be dealing more efficiently with the signals which the majority of peope will be acting on

Therefore it will aid you in being ahead of the majority - which by extension would mean you were in a contrarian position, just before your opinion became the majority - and this is how really you make money

  3. Thank you all for the input. I will check out Trade Prospector, OmniTrader and Meta Stock Pro.

As I stated in my first post I am looking for something to Scan for pre defined Fib levels , MACD levels, ADX ect. I currently spend a lot of time just clicking on stock symbol charts and looking at each one for my pre defined criteria. I would like something that would automate this process. I would like it to give me a list of stocks and then I could just review these. Most of the Scan programs I have looked at key off of prices rather than technical levels. My data feed is currently eSignal and I like their reliability and would like to stay with them using a third party Scanner.

personally, i would like to find something that would automate my life to the exalted level it should be!

if you think a program is going to do that - thats a great fantasy - if you believe its going to do that - experience will teach you otherwise - if you really want to get what you want - you'd better wake up and smell the coffee - otherwise you are going to get what you deserve!

Maybe you should read the postings a little more carefully before you start blowing hot air.

If you go back and read the posts clearly, you'll find that I didn't say anything about AIQ or Metastock.

So before you overdose on your own self-rightousness and haphazardly flame or question anyone's motives, maybe you could actually spend a little time and read the posts carefully enough to know what the hell you're talking about!!!

Same applies to making negative comments about software (or anything for that matter) that you clearly (and admittedly) have absolutely no experience with - you just come off sounding like a fool.

As far as "automating your life to the exalted level" you believe it should be. As you note, no software (at least not software available to retail traders) is the holy grail. But software can be used as a tool to make trading easier or more profitable than doing so without it.

If you think otherwise, good luck to you but since virtually all successful traders use some kind of software tools, it's foolish to make blanket claims statements otherwise.

I have purchased AIQ, Metastock and Omnitrader. All these programs will take up your time, and wast your money if u elect to enter trades based on their stock selections. I consider these programs just Visual Entertainment. There is only one program out there worth the money. Its called Trade Prospector. U can try their 30 day trial and find out for yourself!!

maybe you should read your own posts - or did the marketing guy write it

Maybe YOU should read the posts. If you had bothered to do so you would have noticed that I did NOT post the message you quoted.

Before you start slinging b/s, accusations, and assinine commentary - maybe next time you could actually bother to know what the hell you're talking about!!

  8. Sorry if this is a newbie question ...

Does AIQ or Metastock or any of the other good trading software

programs available to us provide a way to look for bollinger band

breakouts on a end of day basis? Perhaps on the internet there is a website that one can do this in?

I would rather not have to type in by hand 100 symbols daily

looking for this sort of thing.

I see you're holding on to a losing position, instead of admitting you're wrong and getting out of the trade.
