Thanks, I think the tick and adx may be useful if I trade futures again. I have found that if I am stopped out on a trade on both long and a short for forex, then we are in a range market, and I will place range trades. If I then feel that other traders are trying to game my strategy, I may also do a random direction trade at market price which if we are in a range market should still be profitable, and would at the very least have a 50% chance of working no matter what. This goes to the theory that being able to manage your yourself once you are in a trade can be just as important as picking a reason to get in the trade. So far this year I am profitable for each month real money Jan 08, Feb 08, and March 08. I was trading at a loss in March till I caught a nice very large profit on a single trade that ran long and hard.
Hi Oracle, Congratulations on being profitable for this year. I thought that the ADX would not only be retricted to indices. I thought that it would work on all markets and all timeframes. Does it not irk you, when you have both a long and a short losers and quit for the day? Ah well, you live and learn. Thanks again for the feedback and thanks for explaining your trading method.
Yes, it pisses me off to have both a long and short loser in the same day. Thankfully it does not happen very often but that was why I was in a drawdown beginning of march. I think when that happens, you need to look at the market, for me it usually means I got spiked out of both positions and price usually ended up where it started. I am still trying to determine how the market was acting prior to this to see if it can be avoided in the future, but I know it will sometimes happen and am mentally prepared for it. I sometimes hate it more when I either make mistake or don't take a trade out of fear of it not working out even though the setup was perfect based on my rules and then after not taking it, I look back later and see it would have worked out fine.
Talk about vintage AHG. Friday was your perfect screen shot of AHG trading. Hope everyone reading the journal nailed it. It was a slow and grinding day, but if you were patient, very rewarding.
I have been reading here for quite some time and have been using a trial account. I would like some opinions on Real time Charting info. I am going to start trading the emini and would like any and all info on charting software and brokerage companies and there fees. Or is Tradestation the way to go and use any brokerage or is there one that is good as other and there rt fees are reasonable. As I will be scalping the emini costs might be an issue. I have a few years of experience with the Large S&P from the past, but now I am retired and thought I would trade the emini. Any and all info and reccomendations are welcome. Thanks, MM

########################################### As far as this AHG thread is concerned - apart from following Mandel's recommandation - mind the posts of HWKaiser (he did a tremendous job by putting it all together) and these pages by JIU: http://www.4shared.com/account/dir/4770409/39a2f240/sharing.html
Keep up the good work on your thread, we will trade to the end. We will live for today not for the fear of other. Let the good lord determine our future not to the will of the AZTEK Maya calender. Dwelling on the negative only creat negative results. What happen to the year 2000, we are still waiting. >>>>>Where is all the smoke and ashes. Boom theory!
