Anek, I am confused about the divergences you point out. Are you looking at divergence of the shape of TMF chart relative to the shape of the price chart? Comparing absolute values doesn't work since each data set are on a different axis, right? On this one you note a divergence, but could it be an artifact of scaling and shift of the axis of the TMF data? http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1679788 When I note a divergence on my charts, I zoom in on the time the divergence occurred, the TMF curve and price curve change relative to one another. thanks!
Jet, I understand what you mean about the axis, drives me a little nuts too. What we are basically studying is when price goes to one direction and the bid/ask info heads the other way. When the divergence is big enough, I annotate any possible advantage when looking for entries with the trend. Regardless of the axis divergence can very well occur visually and in real time but the whole backtracking thing is a little bit of a headache due to the nature of the indicator's inputs. Once you choose a point of reference and stop moving the charts the TMF and price should be aligned just like they did in realtime but scrolling back and forth could mislead the studies yes unless you stop in the interested point of study. Make sure you also test fast charts, this is important. Anek
I decided to separate TMF from my price chart. It helps me out This one was a beauty, 62% retrace of previous swing, then selloff. Note the flat TMF while price is rising.
Jet, Excellent work, that is exactly how it should be used, as an extra confirmation, never a signal. Anek
I have imported the Ninja version and it is plotting a flat line. Any suggestions? Again thanks to all the contributors! This thread is a great help. Thanks, Cokes
Yay! You win the award! I knew someone would post this, and you are the first hehe Now you need to find out why Anek
Hi Anek, Thanks for TickMoneyFlow and also thanks to John Hudson for making and developing it. I appreciate it. Thanks for your friend for converting into Ninja. I appreciate it. Will try the Ninja version. Regarding when TMF is not in divergence with price, and is moving along with price in same direction, do you think it is more safer to play with the trend. For example, when there is "no divergence" and price is in uptrend with confirming TMF's uptrend, then it is good buy pullbacks. But when price and TMF are diverging, for example price in uptrend and TMF not confiring its uptrend, then better sit on sidelines. For NQ, I understand you suggested 55, 89, 144, 233 (the faster the better). Which tick chart among these are you finding TMF more significant for NQ. ES and YM, which charts do you suggest experimenting TMF. Thanks DT
Hey all, I put together a chart of hindsight trades and questions, anyone please feel free to comment on whatever I got wrong, or left out, AHG-wise. Anek, thanks for the TMF, particularly the ninjatrader version =] If I understand correctly it will help get entries with higher risk/reward. Once I get it set up properly, I'm going to try using it to enter when I think there's a trend, and price has retraced back to the TL, or other forms of support/resistance.
