Word around the campfire... The Eastern cornbelt better get some rain in the next two weeks. The crop started decent... but all eyes are looking skyward. Crucial period here... and no rain in sight. Trade accordingly.
Update from the elevator watcher.... (that would not be me lol) The rains came just in time..... and not too intense as to wash things out. There were a few local areas that saw some washout, but no biggie in the bigger picture. This year's corn is doing well for now. 1/2 way thru June at least.
Word of the day ... "silking"--> soon. On time. Might be a good crop. Beans too. I dunno though, it's anybody's guess as to what the rest of July and August will bring regarding heat. That said, heat make's for good isolated rain-showers. But those can be violent. Good for beans, and corn at this point too I guess, but East of the Mississippi isolated storms can't be counted on in aggregate. All eyes for the next 6 weeks will be on pressure systems. High pressure fronts are a good thing. Like a big wide broom, the kind they sweep basketball courts with lol... it collects all those isolated buildups, and pushes them across vast areas. That's a good thing. Tornado's be damned. So for now, all is well. Keep an eye on the fronts.
My son in law is harvesting wheat/barley early this year (Montana). The beans/peas, they are watering/irrigating...Looking for a higher price. Looks like no real rain there for 10 days...That high that is covering most of the western US.
Hard work. At one point decade ago I wanted to buy/invest a lobster farm in Maine, and I can’t swim. Looks easy but too much hard labor work, it is honest money.
