  3. I want to comment on Dr. Elder's books. I don't think they are advanced or even intermediate by any means. My first book was 'Trading for a Living', and I am glad that it was. I understood a lot about a trader's mindset while also learning about basic technical indicators. So, Dr. Trader, if you like, that book could be a good start for you as well.

There are several books out there on technical analysis as well as several good courses. I would suggest you devour the technical analysis websites first. There are some very good ones out there that teach you almost all kind of tech analysis. Type "technical analysis" in google.

Talking of Tharp books, "Financial freedom through electronic daytrading" is a very good book for daytrading stocks (if that's what you want to do). Also check out Trading in the Zone (Douglas).

    Good luck.

P.S. I seem to recall a fellow who started daytrading futures with his life savings of $2000. 15 minutes later we heard a loud bang; turned out he had thrown his computer out the window and had gone totally insane. The neighbours admitted him to the asylum. His only request was that he get one computer and constant access to elitetrader.com. Come to think of it.. I believe he went by the name spitfire?

  4. I've been a full time day trader at numerous firms since 1997. The obvious choice for me would be the timeless classic "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" by Edwin Lefevre (ISBN 0471059706)

I also just finished reading a fantastic book for MBA's regarding the markets called: "Fooled by Randomness" by Nassim Taleb. What a wonderful read. I highly recommend it!

    Good luck with your trading.

Has anyone else ever called you a big girls blouse ???????

For the benefit of other readers, they keep on deleteing my posts

It's not even as if they are offensive.

Last time I looked this was a forum for traders. As opposed to big girls. But I might be wrong.

I think the best book overall, at least for shorter timeframes, is "The Market Maker's Edge" by Lukeman. I think the best book on trader psychology and trading as a business is "Trade Your Way to Financial Dreedom" by Tharp. Both books are mis-named but contain good information.
