That one baffles me too, I suspect coffee while gives you a boost will also let you crash later and rather soon, apple and perhaps some tea is a better stimulant one as a food and the other as a drink......
Possible explanation: "Essentially, the fibre and sugars found in apples help to boost energy, in the morning, throughout the body, while also helping with internal cleansing. Caffeine (found in coffee), on the other hand, stimulates the brain and increases the heart rate and such, but without necessarily providing additional energy or positive chemical supplements. Apparently, when a person wakes, fruits are more-easily digested than other types of foods. This means that more energy can be delivered (and hence conserved, owing to greater digestive efficiency) by consumption of fruits, such as apples, in the morning. At the same time, the human liver is most active in the morning, which means that an increase in natural "fuels" helps with bodily detoxification; an effect which is surely otherwise inhibited by the comparatively "unnatural" stimulation of the brain with caffeine." I concur. Try fresh vegetable juice also, especially dandelion & parsley & carrot. It's a mild, yet long lasting energy boost.
I recently gave up coffee for 3 apples in the morning. (I also gave up bfast entirely.) I can attest to the energy boost that it personally gives me is far greater than caffeine. Obviously its more healthy, but as to the specific reasonings, I am at a loss. Hopefully more people can add to this thread
