Adding liquidity to the market

  1. Can someone please explain whats meant by adding liquidity to the market to get the ECN rebates?

How much are the ECN rebates approximately...

And how do you add liquidity to the market.. if your trading say a medium cap stock!

  2. Generally, "stop" and "market" orders remove liquidity. "Limit" orders provide liquidity.

  3. To add liquidity you must bid or offer. Meaning you want to be hit by someone else. If a stock is trading 101.50 bid by 101.60 offer and you join the bid at 101.50 and someone "hits" the bid (you), you have provided liquidity. On the other hand, if you "take" 101.60 that is removing liquidity. Peace.
