i'm running a trusty ol' dell precision 670 with a single 2.8 ghz Xeon processor. I find it grinding at 30-50%, on average, during RTH, but maxing out at 100% in certain situations. I have 4 gigs of RAM. Anybody know if I'll see a noticeable performance increase with TradeStation/MultiCharts if I add a second 2.8 Xeon? Thanks...

  2. Some suggestion for you.

You don't need 4 gigs of RAM, waste of money. Gnome convinced me to just go 1 gig to start, I never peak over 50% on RAM. Max would be 2 gig of RAM unless your task manager says otherwise.

Yes get a dual core processor with 1 gig of RAM. I bought my Dell with AMD dual core 2.0 and I like it. Approx. $470. Easily paid for with your RAM savings. TS utilizes a dual core so it will like it.

I also offloaded the DOM and some functions on older Dell with 1 core and no both computers are happy and none come close to 100%. No I just need to find a decent KVM switch.
