I never said "you couldn't access" the image files. But because the image was done on one computer/BIOS it's unlikely to work properly to try to restore the image to a different computer with different mobo/BIOS.
Again, thank you both. Bob, I see what you are showing, but at least after my intial install of Acronis on the new machine, I couldn't get to what you show. i will do a reinstall and see if that helps. This is the stuff why I haven't given up on the internet. The people who help. I hope I offer this for others.
Complete fucking bullshit. Look at the hours spent and the hours (days) lost to junk fucking software. And everyone says Acronis is the best. If that's the best, it's all fucking trash. I remember switching to XP because XP was first marketed as "...seemless backups & restoration" and so I backed up my system, wiped it, installed XP. Then when I try to restore my old stuff to the new XP install, it says it's not compatible. It's not the software engineers, it's the fucking marketing faggots. They will lie their ass off and they have more power in the board room than the engineers. I say that because I know many of both who work for Microsoft and other companies. The only backup I have ever seen that worked was (and remains) is mirror discs in a RAID where you rotate a third drive out and store it disconnected.
I am not surprised to hear so much about Acronis and using it, and relying upon it when you really need it, namely to complete a restore operation or use anything that it wrote or saved or archived. I am not surprised.... what's a shame, is commenting upon products, and companies and experiences one has with products has become so fraught with intimidation, that one can't really say what they really want to. So, what really happened?, were you able to restore your system, using those backups?
Sure, this will work. But it's much easier to use clone software like Casper or Macrium... And just clone your drive to an external enclosure or even a large USB drive. Windows 7 can cause drive letter issues on restoration... But a 5 year old can do this on an XP. Stay the fuck away from Symantec, Mcafee, Acronic... These bastards only want to drain your bank account.
