Achieved 8-Day Winning Streak in Options Trading – Sharing My Journey and Insights

  1. We all appreciate your efforts, but you should make an equity line of your performance along with the calculation of some more metrics, including a Sharpe ratio. Saying that you had a 8-day winning streak can be rather meaningless, if you do not specify these other parameters.

  2. I don't know what is sharpe ratio. I googled it only after u mentioned it. I did options buying ( only intradays and traded every consecutive trading days). From my experience 8 days winning streak is good. But nobody cares, so it means it is very easy and anyone can do it? or what?

From one amateur retail to you: Don't get too hung up on winning streak(s), the only thing that matters to a trader is how profitable he/she is over a year, a decade, several decades...

I don't have any winning streak, profits/losses fluctuates daily, monthly even yearly. Lumpy profits, low win rate, etc..., but over a decade, my CAGR is x % better than buy and hold QQQ.

That is why I am still trade options instead of holding QQQ and go fishing.

    Best wishes and good luck.

  4. Thanks. I like to trade in Options writing and Futures. It needs considerable margin, which I don't have. My conception and expectation is If I prove my winning streak (Options buying which is toughest), some genuine Investor may hire me to trade for him. Because winning options consecutively means i can do successful trades more consistently in futures. So let's see.

I don't write only go long therefore no margins.

If you have a true edge, no need to have margins or OPM, convexity & compounding will take care of you.

  7. OK. I'll try to give you just an example why you need some metrics like the Sharpe ratio in order to measure your performance.
You said that all you want is recognition. A well recognized trader is someone who produces profits while minimizing losses. This means that his/her equity line goes up in a smooth way with minimal drawdowns. Of course, investors are going to tolerate some volatility if you produce bigger gains. The Sharpe ratio measures just this kind of relative performance. The bigger, the better. If you are above a value of 2 for one year or so your would be considered an excellent investor.

Going by your own stats, you must have doubled your fund during those 8 days. My assumption is that you think this is repeatable as you seem to be showcasing this to collect funds from others.

If this is repeatable and you could get seven such streaks without much losses in between, your fund grows 100 times. With that kind of skill, you don't need outside money.
