ACD--Is it the Method to The Madness?

The NYMEX is pretty bad in general as is the AMEX. In fact, NY is pretty much scum across the board. LOL.

But yeah, Fisher and Bolling represent what little class there is there. I don't know much about Crabel's book or his method. There are a million variations of OR systems out there. They are usually predicated on breakouts. ACD is not a true breakout system. I like to think of ACD as more of a philosophy then a system.

  2. If Mark makes any money from acd methodology it means about as much to him as Coke's revenue from licensing it's trademarks to toy manufacturers. It's worth more to him as seminar material and getting his name out there for the recruitment of traders to his clearinghouse. That may be less true or important now as the floor fades away.

  3. If he can make money both ways, more power to him.

Mark Fisher did a great seminar that I watch a year or so ago.

Doesn't work for me today. Anybody have better luck or know another place this 3 day seminar can be watched?

    Thank you

I thought I would post some ACD links here for everybody. The first one is from the first ever live Electronic Trading Expo last April. Fisher gave a presentation on ACD there that lasted about an hour. You need to register to watch.

This next link is another message board that has some good ACD links and some discussion on the subject.

This next link is a Q&A from Fisher's site on ACD.

Here are some comments from Paul Tudor Jones on Fisher.

Here is a link to a video from last year's seminar. He does live trading at his seminars.

That link has been dead for about 6 to 8 months. That link was great, it had over 8 hours of seminar coverage. If enough people complain to the NYMEX maybe they will fix the link. I have already complained about it.

  7. Hello there. Is there any chance that you can delve a little bit into that one 40 handle perfect setup trade from Thursday? A few here had asked about it, and I too was hoping that you might respond. Thanks.

I'll do it just this once. I'm afraid if I go into too much detail then I'll have to go over all my trades every day and I don't wish to do as we are in the process of building a private ACD community and all of what we are doing is proprietary.

But here is the gist of it. I'm not going to explain this too much. I'll use the levels for the DIA since I don't have the future levels in front of me. The DIA has a very very strong number line right now which means we want to aggressively trade the A ups and the failed A downs. It happens that on thursday the low of the daily pivot was at 131.90 and the A down was around 132.00 or so. We got long on the failed A down around the 132.00 area knowing we had the pivot below us and it held nicely. Usually in a choppy number line, would dump the position when it got halfway through the OR but with the strong number line, we hold most of our position till the ATR. We never quite got to the ATR but we did close on the highs, around 132.40 (40 handles). The trade was textbook and it's the highest probability trade to take in this kind of market. There were some other things that set this trade up but I'm not going to go into them as they are not in Fisher's book and they are stuff we specifically created for the index futures but it let's us know what the best fade trades are. To some of you guys this might resonate a little if you read the book, to others it won't make any sense. I really am not interested in teaching this in detail on here but I thought it was only fair that I go through that trade since I mentioned it on here.

  9. Thanks for the post. It was very honorable of you to share some color on that trade, and I hope that the other readers of the thread are respectful of the concerns that you mentioned.

Here is the power of combining multiple edges. Technical analysis can work best under these circumstances, and in my opinion the reason some say that it provides no edge is because they have not investigated applying it in this fashion.
