For Prime accounts must exceed $1 million USD https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=14718#universal-prime-broker
Thanks for the others replying with pretty much accurate info. Although things are probably different on the introducing broker accounts from when Chuck worked with one as they generally would be assigned to a sales rep and professional service desk.
Wow, that's a refreshing admission from IB that their customer service needed improvement! It's good to hear you're actually working on that, now if you can just get rid of "The Algorithm" or at least stop thinking of and in fact referring to it in the third person as if it's an omnipotent being that is perfect in every respect. Heck, I'd settle for not referring to it as a being at all and instead calling it "our software developers product" which at least implies it's the output of a bunch of ordinary humans and can and does need to be tweaked and fixed from time to time.
You think this firm was built by ordinary humans? Given what the people behind this company have done to revolutionize trading and brokerage over the past 40 years, I'd say extraordinary I know of no one at IBKR who rests on their laurels.
Hi, I'm sure you saw the follow-up posts asking the same Q, so I imagine(?) there's a reason why you haven't given the dollar-figure, but what is either (a) the account balance, or (b) amount of commissions generated that qualifies one as a "HNW individual" eligible for either an individual sales rep, or some other flavor of enhanced or personalized service / contact?
Because it is a moving target and somewhat subjective and I don't have an exact metric. The sales team is largely focused toward institutions and select active individuals. Our professional service and key clients team have a broader mandate and if I had to take a rough guess I'd say AUM over 2-5 million and $500 per week in commission. This is a very rough estimate as it can be subjective.
Thanks for reply; I appreciate the interest in providing info, even when you don't have 100% certainty -- I wish more reps would take a similar approach to customer service. IB's a frequent punching bag because of uneven CS (I myself have had several interactions that left me stunned at how uninformed and disinterested some of them are) but please keep up the earnest participation here because it's a breath of fresh air. What are "key account services"? All a Google search turned up was a bunch of IB job listings for that role, but unclear just what benefits, if any, "key account services" provides for IB clients. Lower commissions? Better customer service? Designated account rep to contact?
