Acceptable length until fill on MOO

  1. Greetings,

I'm a novice trader looking to get in on Express on an opening order this AM. I've done MOO's before and been successful. This morning my order wasn't filled even 42 seconds after the open? I ended up cancelling the order thinking there was a technical error of some type. Does this seem odd? Could someone offer some advice?

    I appreciate your time.

    Joe

You need to ask your broker what the cut off time is for MOO orders for that exchange. You also have to ask where those orders are sent. You want to make sure you get the open from the primary exchange.

EXPR NY opening print was at 9:31:50 at 20.74. You just cancelled too soon.

  4. Did the order actually get cancelled or did it execute? Technically, cancels aren't accepted on those after 9:28 (unless my info is dated).

NYSE stuff opens up to 10 minutes after 9:30, rarely even more. Typically half or more open 9:31 or later, so what Dustin said happened.

NYSE lets you cancel apparently while NASDAQ doesn't, in my experience.
