I agree with that, although it will depend on the countries and states in the case of the US.

There are 2 main drivers of this transition. 1. Evolving battery technology and 2. Delivery infrastructure.

At some point, batteries will deliver 80% charge from under 10% in under 10 minutes and charging stations will be more ubiquitous then today's gas stations considering that homeowners will likely be charging at home. There will be no incentives to go hybrid and it's clearly a better way to transition than government mandates.

It's also important to recognize that incumbent energy industries aren't going to sit still and watch their businesses implode. In countries like the US where businesses finance government, they will do their best to pass state and federal legislations to halt or at least slow the transition and sway the sizeable population employed in those industries to fight for their jobs. It's probably what hay farmers tried to do to prevent the advent of ICE automobiles.

In Europe, layers of governments set the rules and processes to follow, in their case 2035 is the deadline for the end of ICE sales. But, as pointed out, this may slip if the labor force in the automotive sector are negatively impacted by the timing. No government in Europe is strong enough to withstand massive protests for very long.

As for battery technology and charging a battery from 10 to 80% in 10 mins I believe will be a strong possibility in the next 5 years along with batteries that will go 500 plus miles on a single charge, but most people again do no believe this.

Does anyone here look at the lease prices on EV and the tax credits along with steep discounts from the manufacturer rebates.

You can literally drive some EVs for less than 100 a month and most EVs for under 300 which is an absolute steal based on the fact a simple gas powered base model is leasing over 400 a month now a days.
.honestly these new hybrid gas models on toyotas and Hondas are not cheap, leases on these models at $500 plus a month.

Has anyone picked up some of these $50k EVs for less than 300 a month??

America’s EV charging points have doubled in less than four years
America has invested $2.5 billion in building charging stations
Currently, there are more than 200,000 stations in the country
1000 new charging stations are added every week

The number of publicly available EV charging stations in the United States has doubled since early 2021.
It seems like an electric revolution is on the way and America is leading the charge.
At the time of writing, there are more than 211,000 public EV charging ports available in the US.
And the best part is that around 1,000 new ones are being added every week.

Over 200,000 EV charging stations in America

The government has also recently announced $521 million in funding to add more than 9,200 new chargers.
The Department of Energy has credited the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for aiding the buildout of charging stations across America.

This law has already provided $2.5 billion in funding for the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure

    Discretionary Grant Program.
Moreover, the US government has announced $521 million in grants to build more charging stations in 29 states.
Due to this, more than 9,200 charging ports will be added, with each one costing roughly $56,630.
This infrastructure upgrade along with new and fast-charging EV batteries will definitely lead to a bigger adoption of electric cars.

It seems like California will be receiving over $149 million to support five different projects.
One of these projects will include adding Level 2 chargers to all BART-managed parking facilities in the Bay Area.
Los Angeles will also be getting $15 million in funding to install 18 DC fast chargers and 1,263 Level 2 chargers.
Speaking of EV projects, Detroit has introduced a road that can charge an EV as they drive on it.
