  2. Metooxx,

don't you think living in a "tax haven" (non-resident of US - hence no IRS hassels) and trade thru and IBC (no cap. gain) would be a better solution? :)

  3. Absolutely; my next door neighbor here is Canadian trading prop through Hold.

This island is covered with expatriate traders ...

Or, as covered as an island of 50,000 can be ...

  5. Thanks metooxx, sort of came to same conclusion. Sad to leave
the "mainland" but think of all the money one can save (no tax
    on any of those "islands").

  6. Works best for non-US traders; however US traders can still get significant savings with a little work.

Besides, would you rather trade in the snow or in paradise ...

  7. You got that right! :)

However, what do people do with medical - go back
to the "old country" when trouble starts? Usually there's
a three month wait period for health plan to kick in after returning - so any "trouble" better be minor I guess.

  8. We have our same insurance as we had before.

My middle daughter who is married to one of our traders got sick a couple of weeks after we came down. The main local hospital treated her in the emergency room for $30. The next time we went to the "private" hospital, that was $60. She started seeing a specialist here who charges US rates; he sent her back to Chicago after a couple of weeks for testing; they really didn't figure it out either.

You have to pay for treatment, however the US insurance company reimburses you as out of network care. If you have something beyond their means they put you on an air ambulance to Miami or Nassau; rather routine here.

If you have something that is not life threatening but want to be treated in the US; you can call the control tower at the airport and they will get you a charter to Miami in about 30 minutes for $400; almost did that.

You can also get local coverage for about a third of what we pay that covers US hospitals and doctors.

With my luck I'd be on the same flight back to Miami as Alliyah.
