Michael Moore in his movie praises the Cuban Health Care System
but it is great for some priviledged ones but not for most. I have lots of family in Cuba and they are regular folks. When they go to the hospital they have to take soap, towels, sheets as none of these items are provided. Now most of the medications have to be paid for by people and some like Omeprazole for ulcers have to be bought in dollars only. We are always sending medications to Cuba when the family needs them. The Cuban health care system before the Revolution was outstanding and we had incredible doctors in all fields of medicine, many would come to the US , do a residency and go back to Cuba and practice. I have a friend who was a doctor in Cuba recently and told me that if you do an EKG on someone who you feel needs it but does not meet the government's criteria for an EKG you get punished. So you do the EKG and then tear it up. Now , that is some system.
There was a video which was smuggled out of Cuba shortly after the Michael Moore movie about the Cuban Health Care system. The video shows the inside of a common small town hospital, broken windows, roaches, unflushable tolilets, flies all over patients , patients on no sheets;you would not take your dogs to this hospital, and I hear that is not an uncommon condition in many hospitals.

litsen to Col. Sanchez. ( sorry its in spanish ) and other episodes of "a Mano limpia". Sanchez was part of a few who was privy to Fidels inner dealings. He is one of a few who really know whats up. he was Fidels body gaurd for 17 years and was also one of many who was disilusioned by the farce.

    peace.

True I have only seen pictures of inside Cuba but please Cubans when the embargo etc. ends don't ruin your beautiful old world cities and culture to copy the awful crap culture and skyscrapers from the States as pumped out by Hollywood.

Greed is not good and the mafia should be behind bars not running the place into the ground. They are very convincing but it's just rubbish after the glitz has worn off !

  7. You right 100%. I was outraged when I saw Michael's film putting Cuba as a good example. They tell me that Cuba's healthcare before the revolution was good, even my grandparents tell me that, but I also know that it was also in good shape for most of Castro's time.

Today's reality you explained very well.

Do Havana residents really have as much sex as depicted in Pedro Juan Gutierrez' "Dirty Havana" trilogy?
