when the NYSE imbalances are released for the first time @ 3:40 EST, at what time are those imbalances calculated? For example at 3:40 you see that GE has a buy imbalance of 1,000,000 shares, does that mean at exactly 3:40 GE had the buy imblance of 1,000,000 shares or is that 1,000,000 shares imbalace refer to another time, like at 3:35 it had a buy imbalance of 1,000,000 shares, and it is reported at 3:40 the imbalance at 3:35

Market on Close imbalances begin disseminating on the Floor of the NYSE at 3 pm everyday.

  3. Why would you have a buy imbalance on a stock that the price is falling.

The stock direction won't always follow the imbalance... There are many other factors involved. If it did, Every 8th grader with a calculator would be a stock trader. lol.

The MOC Imbalance simply matches buy and sell orders at the price that maximizes the amount of tradable stock.
