Actually it is an opportunity for him to show up, say kinds words, and present himself as being caring & comforting. For comparison purposes -- this is something that even DeSantis could pull off. DeSantis did fairly well with the Florida condo collapse situation. Of course, you will take criticism from the opposing party or from some individuals trying to claim he is merely trying to do a "stunt" to get some limelight. However that's the nature of being a politician. For the most part we have not heard crap from Abbott about the Texas school shooting ever since is initial press conference after which it became clear he was misinformed about the actual narrative & events (and note I do not blame him for this). But he needs to somehow properly address what is going on now -- and take leadership into a state investigation (which should come from the executive branch -- not the legislature) on the sequence of events that led to this failure in the response.
they've hinged their wagon to "blue lives matter", "back the blue" & "the thin blue line". Hard to pivot from that
Add "crypto mining boom" to the list of things that might bring down the Texas power grid, which currently includes excessive heat, excessive cold, moderate temperatures, wind, rain, customers using A/C, customers using heat, grandma using the stove, and bad thoughts. Remember to thank Abbott for this mess. Can the Texas Power Grid Survive the Crypto Mining Boom? https://slate.com/technology/2022/08/crypto-mining-texas-power-grid.html
Abbott and his buddies want to make sure Texans have no power. Yeah... removing power sources from the grid is such a fine idea. Of course the GOP committee members are wacko's who push "wind farms can change the earth’s magnetic field" and other strange claims -- therefore all renewable power must be shut down. Texas Leaders Shut Renewables Out in Planning the Power Grid’s Future On a state advisory committee, only one member has experience developing wind or solar power. And he’s voiced some eyebrow-raising ideas. https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/power-grid-advisory-committee-renewables-shut-out/
Let's follow-up and see what's going on with Abbott's clowns... Hilarious Texas propaganda hails how reliable the Texas power grid will be now, because they added a new natural gas plant, lots of batteries, and... wait for it... "a week's worth of backup diesel fuel on site". This is electric grid "reliability" in Abbott's Texas. Putting barcodes on migrants before loading them onto cattle cars and shipping them out of state. Welcome to the world of Abbott. NYC officials say Texas Gov.
